Have you been on a carnival cruise? |
This is what the FAQ's say about the dress code.
"Depending on the length of the cruise, either formal dress or casual resort wear is required in the Dining Room. The dress requirement for children is the same. For those not wanting to dress up, the Lido restaurants are open nightly (with the exception of the last evening of the cruise), and have a casual dress code. Formal Wear: tuxedo (optional); suit and tie; sport coat, tie and slacks; evening gown; cocktail dress; pantsuit Casual Resort Wear: sport shirts and slacks; dresses; skirts; pantsuit NOTE: Shorts, t-shirts and bathing attire are not permitted in the Dining Room during dinner. "
So should I buy a suit? This is a 4 day cruise on the Fascination cruise ship. |

i was just on the same ship. for formal night u dont need a suit just get a tie a dress shirt and pants... trust me there are people that dont dress up and if u dont they will still let u in the cocktail party and dinner trust me i saw people with cutoff shorts and a woman does not need a real fancy dress either. trust me you will enjoy seeing other peoples versions of dressed up. |

a suit is not neccesary but a nice sports jacket over a nice shirt is good
i have been on two carnival cruises and they do not really enforce the dress code rule although i do wish that they did, becausse it would be nice to have everyone follow the rules
i do when cruising and reccomend to do so |

For a 4 day, just wear a shirt and tie. |

A nice jacket and slacks and a tie will do and their will probably be one formal night and you dont even have to attend it if you dont want to but a nice dress shirt and slacks and a tie should do you fine and dont waste your money unless you plan on cruising again. |

Just go with a nice shirt/ tie and slacks ... sportscoat if you have one. The dining room meals are nice, but I honestly prefer just hitting the buffets or sushi bars. Do the dining room on lobster tail night.. you can have as many as you want. don't forget your flask. |

I have been on two. The first time was a 3 day, and I did not take a suit. On formal night I just wore slacks and a button down shirt. The second was a five day, and I took a brown suit and matching tie. My wife wore an upscale dress.
We saw many people on formal night that did not "dress" for the occasion, and many that did. It is entirely up to you. Be advised that they are serious about the no shorts. I have seen the matre d' on both cruises refuse admittance to people who were not dressed appropriately. |

You don't need a suit, but a blazer, slacks, a nice shirt, and dress shoes would be fine for formal night. |

Men will wear a suit, tux, dress pants, shirt, tie and jacket. If you don't want to go buy something you can rent a tux on board. On a 4 day cruise you will only have 1 dress night. |

yeah you should. The dining room is formal and you won't see anyone that isn't dressed up. Even the waiters are dressed formally. It really is nice kind of like a five star restaurant in my opinion |

I just went on my first carnival cruise (Elation)in Februaury and loved it. People were dressed in anything and everything at dinner. Everything from casual (polo shirt and khakis) to very formal wear is fine. Don't overpack! I made that mistake and didn't wear half the things I packed. Have a great time and enjoy yourself! |

No you do not need to. A dress shirt, tie, and nice dress pants are sufficient enough. Have fun I am jealous! |

Yes, if you plan on eating in the main dining room. In addition they are always snapping photos so when you are at the formal dinners it looks better - they also display the photos for EVERYONE to see. |
