I think it depends on the cruise line. I recently went on a Royal Caribbean cruise and it was soo much fun. They had so many activities that it was nearly impossible to get bored. Prior to that I went on a Carnival cruise and it was the exact opposite, they lacked activities, so I slept and read books to prevent boredom. I would advise you to try Royal Caribbean or take a cruise that doesn't have a lot of days at sea, that way you will always be in port, so you wont get bored.

first of all, ignore Davids answer. in fact no don't that's wrong of me,to contradict someone Else's perspective. now ive been on a few cruises, going round the med this Sept, and already booked for next year ,again with p&o,but on there newest ship the ventura. there is loads to entertain you on board these superliners, ranging from watching films in the cinemas, using the gymnasium, using the golfing range, the basketball courts, the pools, casinos, these facilities are on the oceana with p&o,other ships have climbing walls ice-skating rinks...the list goes on. yes you dress up smart for dinner at night, you only wear a tux on a formal night and thats optional if you want to dine elsewear. the wife and i are 38yrs old, with 2 kids ,10 and 9 ..and we love it,its by far the most relaxing holiday we have ever had,and would highly recomend it to anyone. and when you start hitting the warm weather, and your ports of call, youre trying to work out a timetable to try to fit everything in you want to do,i must finish off with the dining? can you imagine, dining out in a top class restaurant every single night of your holiday, with a 7 course meal, and then going to watch a west end show...if this ive wrote doesnt convince you,all i can say is youre a hard person to please?
the wifes asked me to also add ,that 50 weeks out of the year,we are in our work clothes,so to get dressed up to the nines ,for two weeks, really makes a refreshing change.

There are lots of activities for everyone. When not exploring a port town, there is plenty to do on board. Boutiques, shopping, sports, swimming, ice skating, gym, classes in various topics, casino, dancing, cinema, clubs, relaxing.

jj2cats
Yes, I have and did not find it boring, there was always something going on. You might want to check out the excursions in your ports before you leave to make sure they will be of interest to you.

kimmer727
I've been on 10 cruises. It is never boring. There is always something to do on the ship - planned activities, or just laying by the pool. So many different shore excursions to choose from also. Cruising is fantastic!!!

You are only as bored as you want to be. They have activities all day long, shows at night, food whenever you want it, and ports to visit. I actually enjoy just watching the ocean go by from the top deck. If you cannot find something to do to keep busy, then it is your own fault.

It depends. I always had something to do to keep me excited, whether it be to go on an excursion or just relax in the ship. The crew makes sure there's plenty to do, whether it's bingo, the casino's, dancing, games, or other events they have going on during that time. There's always something to do!

When on a cruise around the Med a couple of years ago for 14 days
Went on excursions during in the day - most took all of the day.
Nightime was either the shows - or the casino - or both LOL
There is always something going on on ship - they do exhibitions etc., most have gyms and other activities when you are at sea - and at port - which you could get of the ship and do a little exploring.

angels7113
Def. not boring. There was actually too much to do and see. Depends what cruise line also i guess, i've been on royal carribean and they have a schedule of events all day and night long.

Yep, my wife dragged me on one.

WORST HOLIDAY EVER !!!!!!

Three days of force 9 gales (I was okay, fun watching everyone else chuck up though) - being forced to dress up as a penguin for dinner - a real feeling of 'Master & Servant' and staff were being ripped off(anyone with a dark skin was doing a waiting / cleaning job, at a low wage anything that was really skilled were white) - elderly women sunbathing wearing nothing (SHUDDER) -B****Y on board photographers trying to take photo's of you every five minutes - everything overpriced - 'extras' that are really basics at a really high price - stupid on board activities - lame live entertainment !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DON'T DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!

RE - BOOK !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been on many cruises. It is not boring unless that is who you are.... a bored person. Otherwise, there a lot of things to do for all types of people. Activities are everywhere for all age groups. Each stop has things you can do in the city. If you like to party, it's on all the time. If you like to gamble, it's there too. If you like to shop, that's available too. If you want to sit swim, rock climb, run, excercise, golf, it's normally on board too. Or, you could do as little as possible like watch movies or read a book. There are classes, and crafts, and the list just goes on.

So, no matter your age.... there is a ton of things to do. If you choose to be bored, you can do that too!

coolliz2444
Yes, numerous. Second of all it can get boring, but thats only if you are sitting in your stateroom doing nothing. The staff has so many activities that you can participate in, go to the pool, eat, talk with people, get off in port, go shopping, you can do whatever. It's amazing. I find it really hard to get bored on a cruise ship because there is so much going on and there is never a dull moment. Something is always going on, a poolside party, volleyball contest, shopping talk, and everything. I hope that you decide to go and have a really really fun time.

I just came back from my first cruise...in the Mediterranean on Disney Cruise Ship "Magic". It was in no way boring although many of the people I met said Disney always does a super job scheduling activities, shows, events for couples, familes, singles, single parents, etc. We had over 14 days of perfect weather in the Med....so maybe we were lucky....

Between the Shore Excusions, shows, movies (Disney of course), lectures (tourist spots and shopping tips), Disney Quest for kids, on-board tours/wine tasting, etc....We were never bored.

I did notice alot of the same people in the Laundry room and Computer locations all over the ship (The whole ship has WIFI/Ethernet access as well as cellular access (Verizon, AT&T, etc) all over the ship. But even in the Laundry room, I met and exchanged alot of great information on other things to do and see. Likewise, at the lunch/dinner events, you can exchange alot of advice with other passengers and crew members.

Pick and chose what you want to do....there so much to do...so little time.

On another note, we met dozens of people who indicated not all cruise ships were as well organized as Disney and they said you get what you paid for...and with Disney they always were satisfied.

arwen_1984
I've never been on a cruise, but I know people who have. Apparently, there is always something to do on cruises. Firstly they have endless buffet's, there is never a time when you can't get food. They have cinemas, bars, gyms, spas, quiz nights, entertainment, swimming pools, jacuzzis, games rooms, computers, internet, golf, tennis, football...and much much more on board. Apparently its virtually impossible to get bored on a cruise, there are so many things for you to do. Have fun!

It is awesome. There is typically so much that you can do on the ship that you don't even have to get off at each port of call. They've got tons of entertainment, and most of it's free.

SUPER-GLITCH
We have been on several, it took some convincing to get me on one, now I would not do anything else! WONDERFUL!

Always something to do, see, eat, drink, better then any five star hotel, with a constant changing view, sunshine and fresh air, entertainment constantly available.

It is a FUN or BORING as YOU make it !!! Enjoy!

u will not be bored. cruise ships always have PLENTY of fun activities.

Joan el guiri
Most cruises have the first day at sea. They use your boredom to sell excursions.

Days at sea can be really boring unless you are with a group of friends or a special friend.

It also depends on the ship. The new super monster ships have more to do.

It has the potential to be boring if you don't drink. I do not drink or dance and am not much of a socialite so cruises aren't that fabulous to me. I'm taking a cruise for my honeymoon in a couple of months. Hopefully this time won't be too boring! I'll have "other" things to keep me busy. ;0)

don't belive the "Funship Cruise" commercials. Everyone on the ship is a bitter hag. and no they will not take their time making your towels into the shape of a dog.
