There is not much difference from the top to the bottom of a ship unless you are on a very small cruise ship. Having a window is nice, but I never really have found use for it other than to wake me up because the sun is shining in. I book inside cabins and save the extra money to spend on shore excursions, pictures, souvenirs, gambling, drinks, etc. Now if you have the option to book a balcony, that is always something nice to experience, especially if you are going on a scenic cruise like Alaska or Mediterranean. Hope this helps. Have a wonderful cruise.

if you are just one who thinks that they won't be in their cabin that much, then i would suggest an inside cabin.
Some people love the space and an outside balcony.
and some really love the luxury of a suite or a penthouse suite.

I myself like balconies, but am just as happy most of the time in an inside. the extra money i would have spent just goes to the next cruise experience.

best wishes.
have a good day

one with a window so you can enjoy the view

Get the best cabin you can afford. The cheap ones are very small. If you have a problem with tight spaces, get one with a window.

But, keep in mind that you probably won't spend much time in your cabin unless you are on your honeymoon. Then I suggest you splurge a little. The suites are really nice, especially one with a balcony.

Julie T
You don't spend much time in your cabin so inside cabins are OK.

We prefer the upper deck.

However, do avoid cabins are are under the casino, theater, dining rooms and the Lido deck. These cabins get alot of external noise.

Also avoid cabins next to the elevators and stairwells.

If you like some amount of privacy while you sit outside, then a balcony cabin is worth the extra dollars. However, the baloncy is quite small and you can only sit or stand, you can't recline or get much sun on the cabin balcony.

Upper or at least up a few decks is better because of less engine noise, etc. How important a window is depends on what you plan to do on the cruise. A lot of people spend very little time in the cabin and so a window is of little importance, although if you are prone to seasickness, I could see an advantage since they tell you to stare at the horizon to help it.

The stern (rear) of the ship has less motion. Stay away from the middle of the ship. It is right over the engines and you will feel any of their vibrations.
