In order to get a job on a cruise ship you need either previous experience in working on a cruise ship or extensive land based knowledge in the department you are applying for.
I had 5 years of working experience in a hotel (which included a 3 year appreticeship of hotelbusiness in Germany) - and I had to start as Barwaitress onboard ships. And only because of the previous experience I did not have to start as room stewardess.
So first you need to get landbased experience in whatever area you might choose and then you can think of getting onboard a cruise ship.
If you want to travel and work, this will also have an impact on your choice of jobs. If you work in the shops onboard, Casino or Salon you will have more time off them with the other jobs.
However, you would need to be a Casino Dealer, a Shoppy or a Hairdresser/Massagetherapist first and then you can apply. |

Haha, don't do it. It was the worst year of my life and I had one of the best and highest paying jobs onboard. It's not what you think. Look for something else to do. If you really want to go to sea and see the world, become a merchant mariner and sail on a cargo ship. Check out Military Sealift Command (it's not the military even though it's in the name. it's a civilian support job.) I sailed aboard one of those ships and loved every minute. Saw over half the world that way. Dubai, Oman, Djibouti, Egypt, Greece, Sicily, Portugal, Hong Kong, Guam, Phillipines, Japan, etc etc. |

Go on a cruise and talk to the captain or someone who is up in the rankings on board and say you are interested in a job and see what he says. or just go on to a cruise line website and apply for one. If you really want to do this, you need to make time for it. |
