I recently accessed my e-mail and sent messages from a cruise ship. You need to type in or click on your provider, such as Yahoo, then type in your e-mail address and password and your'e in. It's not difficult and others nearby might help you anyway. |

When I was on a Royal Caribbean Cruise, they had a pretty nice computer center with internet access. It was something like $1 per minute, but you would swipe your stateroom/cruise card and get charged accordingly.
Make certain you have a plan of action for checking your email - minutes go by fast and the cost can add up. You can generally access most emails (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc.) as well as websites like CNN or facebook. |

There are a couple of methods. You can sign into the provider's web site for your email if there is one. Check with your email provider and see if there is one. Second the cruise ship probably provides a site or you can use http://mail2web.com/ where you can access any pop3 email with the email address and password.
Note that this assumes that you are using the ships computers for internet access. If you are using your own computer with wifi it should work exactly as at home.
In either case expect it to be very slow. You must pay for access either by the minute or by getting a package of time at a discount.

It depends on the cruise line you are traveling with.
For example, if Carnival Cruise Line, then there is an area you can sit with your laptop and get free wireless connection.
Or you can just check your email while on the cruise before it takes off, if your cell phone has internet. |

The least expensive way is to find an internet cafe at one of the ports. Or all of the ports, if you're like me and absolutely MUST check your email constantly.
If you are in a foreign city, just check with your hotel, most have internet access in their business center or even in your room. |
