How do four adults fit into a stateroom on a cruise?

I've been on cruises before..but never with more than just 2 people in a room. This time we're going with 4 adults in one room and I was wondering how we all sleep? The room says up to 4, but says it only has 2 twin beds that can convert into a queen??? I'm confused?

The room will more than likely have two upper berths that fold out from the wall. The room steward will close them in the morning, and open them in the evening. It will be very crowded, but we only use the room for sleeping, showering and changing. It should only be a minor inconvenience.

The two other beds are Pullman beds that come down from the ceiling or from the wall.

My kids say they are not very comfortable.

Worse than the beds is the 4 adults sharing the bathroom!

Tip...take an extra power strip. The room usually only has one.

Like sardines.

Some staterooms ARE larger - but 4 people and two twin beds is .. well, I hope you're really, really close friends.

There are two "upper beds" they call them. They come out of the ceiling. Its like a bunk bed. They will put them down at night and back up in the morning.

Happy Cruising!

I assume you are referring to a standard cabin. There are suites that will fit four or more and some have more than one bathroom.

If you are in a standard cabin it is going to be a tight fit. Some people who do this end up going to the spa to take a shower, because everyone is going to be sharing the same bathroom. Nonetheless, it has been done in the past, so it can be done.

As to the sleeping arrangements, there will be either two beds that hang from the ceiling, a double sleeper sofa (rare) or a single sleeper sofa and a bed that comes out of the ceiling.

Below is a link to a website that shows a few cabins set up for four people ...

I guess it depends how close you are to the other three. :)

You are going to be awfully cozy! Have fun!

Hi Jessica!

Agree with everyone here. You'll probably have 2 twins or a queen and 2 uppers. It'll be crowded - imagine 4 people living in your bedroom. Does everyone get up and go to bed at the same time? YIKES!! That could be a problem.

Good idea to set up a bathroom schedule - especially on the days when you have to be on a shore excursion at 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. Bring along a travel clock to keep in there - no electrical plugs, except for razors - in the bathroom. Plugs are usually at the vanity outside of the bathroom. As for bringing along an extra power strip, I wouldn't recommend it. Each cabin can only provide so much power and when you overload w/ a powerstrip you'll blow the circuit breaker - not just for your cabin, but ususally for a block of cabins (been there, done that).

Although it may crowd things up a bit more, you might want to request room service for breakfast so one person can use the bathroom while the others eat.

If your budget allows and there is availability, you might see if you can move up to a little larger cabin. Otherwise, I would contact the cruise line and ask for a complimentary upgrade, to a larger cabin that can accommodate 4, (make sure the upgrade will accommodate 4) if one becomes available. Call the cruise line between 8 am - 5 pm ET when you have the pros working in reservations. Also, if the first person turns you down, call back and talk to another.

Hope some of this helps.
