How do people get off the cruise to shore?

like when you get off the cruise , do you take another boat, to go to shore or do you get off the cruise directly to shore?

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only
AT many places that ships stop, like Cozumel, Jamaica, St Thomas, and San Juan, PR, there is a pier where the ship ties up using huge rope lines and then they put out a stairway or ramp, depending upon what they have, and you just walk off the ship onto a concrete pier and either get on a tour bus or taxi right there to go on a tour or where ever you plan to go. Some places you have to walk a ways off the pier to buses and taxis or town.

Then in places like Georgetown, Grand Cayman, and a few other places, they do not have a pier and they use the cruise ship's life boats and/or boats provided by the port to carry people back and forth between the ship and the pier.

So some places you walk directly onto the pier and others you use a smaller boat/life boat to get to shore.

It depends on the port. Some ports have piers the ships can dock at, where you will step off the ship and onto the pier. Others can't fit the cruise ships, so the ships will dock a bit away from the island, and small boats called tenders will take passengers to and from the ship/island.

If the point of destination has a deep bay, the ship can come in and dock at the pier so everyone can go ashore.

If however the point of destination is a small island and the waters are not too deep, smaller boats ferry the ship passengers to and from the ship. The ship often stays way out at sea to avoid being beached when the tide changes.

IT DEPENDS SOME OF THE PORTS YOU DOCK BUT THERE ARE A FEW THAT THE SHIP STAYS OFF AND YOU TAKE TENDERS TO THE DOCK AND BACK TO THE SHIP THEY USUALLY ARE SAVE

That depends on the port. Some have a pier and you walk off using the gangway. Some ports have no pier, so you have to tender. That's a small ferry, basically. Some ports have neither, so the ship lowers some of it's own lifeboats and uses them. After guests have debarked that payed for excursions, you can then go to and from shore as many times as you want up until the time to be back on board. Never be late.

it depends.
usually there are peirs for the cruises but sometimes when they are crowded they park in the middle of the ocean and take special little boats out to the shore, [sometimes the emergency boats]
And when the island doesn't have a pier they do the same!
Dont worry they wont make you swim hahaha :]
