Drinks in the hot tub. Works every time. That's about the easiest place in the world to start up a conversation. Another good place is at dinner if they have the larger tables like some cruises do.

But the nice thing about the hot tub is that if you don't want to talk to them, it's easy to find an excuse to get out of it.

go to clubs, bars, go to dinner and meet the people at your table. Its pretty easy just be friendly and open to meeting new people.

when I went on the royal carribean (class trip) I met other teens...especially in the teen club..try clubs

or make sure you go to a lot of activities like for single people or karoke! Its all fun! the Carnival has awesome things to do..so does the princess cruise line!

People just came to me an started talking to me...the we ended up going to the same events...then eventually dinner.

get drunk and show some cleavage....

When you see someone you like, you walk up to them with a smile on your face and say, "Hi! I'm ______ and I'm here to find new friends!" :D

Find someone you like and threaten to push them overboard if they won't eat dinner with you.
That's much easier than just talking to them.

Just start chatting.

Most everyone on a cruise is just there to have a great time. Everyone is in their best frame of mind and having the time of their life.

We've met some of our very best friends on cruises! We call, email, and even plan trips together still to this day!

At dinner, at the pool, during their nightly entertainment shows, play bingo, gambling in the casino, so many different places to meet friends. Now, are you talking about meeting a hookup? That's different... Though those can be found on the cruise too if you look hard enough I'm sure.

Talk to someone when you are on the cruise ship.

Doing the things you like. I always meet friends in the nightclub, my one brother meets people in sports activities, the other brother meets people in the cigar bar, and my sister-in-law meets people by the pool deck. Another fun option is to take along a "mascot." Some sort of toy or something and take pictures of it everywhere. It starts a LOT of conversations if it's unique and has a name.

coconut
Just strike up conversation. For example: If you see someone by the pool everyday, say, "hey, how are you today? Enjoying the cruise?" Then Conversation will strike up and meet more and more people this way.

Just like any other place walk up to some and introduce yourself. Remember deep breaths and its okay to be nervous. That is how I would do it.

You're going to be rubbing elbows with strangers for several days. Ask "where are you from?" and go from there.

trust me...

you'll have no problem making friends... the directors set up situations that are ice breakers.

Everyone has that same mind set and is ready to party up a storm....

Karen
There are so many things to do, trust me it won't be a problem. My son is soooo shy & he made the neatest friends on a family cruise and they still call & email each other today. I figure they met about 2 years ago now.
Don't worry and have fun :-)

there are plenty of places where you will be in close contact with other people. Most cruise lines have multiple people eating at the same table (unless you are on ncl). Also, shore excursions are good places to meet people and of course you will be standing in many lines during the cruise.

squares
there are plenty of social activities on cruises.. goto them and just hangout, you'll meet new people i promise

Introduce yourself. Don't be afraid to talk to everyone there. It helps if you aren't alone.

I have had the best luck at making friends at dinner. I have always sat at a table with 6 or more people.

lovely2006
simple...just introduce your name and smile a little bit. You'll make friends in a minute. If you don not smile, no one will be interested.
