How do you safely navigate a boat through rough waters?

My friend went on a cruise to Bermuda, and now I’m looking for information about navigating a small boat (like a dinghy) in rough weather conditions. Are there any experienced seafarers out there who can offer some advice? To read more, click here: http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-d8pH0dcoRKeB12yOcnUQp.9VCFos?p=12657

Hafiz – You’re right! I’m asking how to navigate a small boat in rough waters if it becomes necessary to do so.

I am by no means an extensively experienced seafarer but have lots of experience with my 22 1/2 aft-cabin cruiser; operating on some of the Great Lakes. First thing that comes to my mind is -- why in the heck would you ever want to use a dinghy in rough water? Maybe for white-water rafting...

Anyways, there are lots of good sites offering links and boating techniques. Here are a few below.

Safe boating!!!!

Obviously you dont know too much about boating, if you're looking for dingy navigation in rough waters. If a small craft advisory is up, a small craft is generally 100ft or less, although gross tonnage has an important bearing also. It would be wise to obtain a copy of Chapmans, a book of boating, knowledge, rules, common sense, and how to's

You don't, smaller boats are dangerous in hazordous weather, the most you can do is try to keep them upright until the conditions subside.

First of all, I do not have answer to your question. However, for the sake of clarity, I think you wanted to say that, if the cruise ship sinks (God forbid) then your friend needs to navigate small boat (life-boat). Ami I right?

If so, please make it clear why you are asking for this information "about navigating a small boat (like a dinghy) in rough weather conditions".
