How do you wash clothes on a 3 week cruise? do cruise ships have launderettes?

Show all answers

CopyThat
I haven't been on a 3 week cruise, but on my 2 week cruise I washed out items as need and hung them in the bathroom.
The ship does have a laundry service, but they do the laundry theirselves and charge per item.

RIGGS
been with p&o a few times and they provide free washing machine, exept powder so we take washing tablets with us,a lot cheaper than buying on board. they also provide free tumble dryers and ironing facilities.

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only
I can tell you from experience that while Carnival cruise line ships DOES have a laundry, ... Princess, Celebrity, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean ships DO NOT have a laundry. They all do however, provide laundry services for a fee. The service is pretty expensive, almost $1.00 per item, but it is fast and good service. We have been on a couple two week cruises and used the service. All you do is place your items in the laundry bag and leave it in your room with the laundry ticket completed and they return the things the next day cleaned and folded. For the most part we had under clothes cleaned and a couple T's and tops. But you can get anything washed and starched.

Yeah most have a Laundrette as well as dry cleaning services. Although my last cruise was 17 days and managed to get enough clothes in my case and baggage allowance to last. People normally pack far too much anyway!

Some cruise ships, Thomsons, for example, have a couple of laundry rooms on their ships. All of them have a laundry service available, at a charge! Small items can be washed in the bathroom, and hung up to dry in the shower. It's surprising how quickly things dry in the bathroom. We've just come back from a Royal Caribbean cruise, where they didn't have a laundry room, but we took enough clothes not to need to wash them. Swimsuits, etc. were rinsed out and and dried in the bathroom.

It depends on which cruise-line you are sailing with. Have a look at the deck plan of your ship on your cruise-line web site. If there are laundrettes on board they will be clearly marked.
As another answer has pointed out all cruise ships have a laundry service which is very good but would be very expensive if you wanted a lot washed. There is usually a two for one deal near the end of the cruise.
Smalls, tights etc: can be washed in the bathroom and hung to dry. There is usually a line in the shower.

yes most have laundry facilities for passengers. Check with others at cruisecritic.com to see how they have handled the 3 week cruise. Also talk to the cruise line to see what they suggest and how much the machines are. I would also think about facilities on shore depending on where you were traveling. Is there any chance to do that on shore? would crew members know where self service laundry was? i don't know if that s a possibility?good luck best wishes for a wonderful cruise.

Well yes, you can wash ur clothes on a cruise, but depending on if it has a laundary room...most do, but some dont...the best way to find out is to go to vacationstogo.com, pick a random search on the boat that ur going on, and then click the link to ur boat...there will be a chart telling you everything that the ship has...if you need any help with this, feel free to send me a message, ill be happy to help! Have fun! = ]

I have taken many cruises and most of the major cruise lines of washing machines and dryers available for passenger use. You can check their websites or consult a travel agent for positive information.

Ste444

I'm sure they will have. They have everything else.

take a length of rope and wash your clothes through the port hole in your cabin.

the movement of the ship through the sea is much better than that of a washing machine.

It's best to do it at night so no one can see.

lilangel
most have laundy mats and cleaning services.
