How does cruising the pacific say to hawaii compare to cruising the atlantic to the caribbean?

Have taken many crusies on the eastern side of the US but was wondering if the ocean may be rougher on the western side. Will i need sea sick meds if i have not needed them before?

I'm in the same boat you are. (sorry about the pun)

I've done been to almost every port on the eastern side, and thinking about checking out Hawaii.

I can you some insight, kid brother (not a kid) has done the Hawaiian cruise and enjoyed it!

As for see sickness, about the same. If you didn't need them on the east side, you most likely won't need them on the west side either.

What everyone is forgetting, is that everyone has different tastes and ideas of what a good vacation is. There is nothing wrong with wanting to go to one of our own states for a vacation!

I fly around the world, visit other countries, I also to do domestic road trips and I like to cruise. Each type of travel has it's own advantages and disadvantages.

Book your cruise and enjoy!

Not that I've experienced. I think it will be about the same. I think it is always best bring some meds just incase, that way you don't have to worry. But, I've never needed them on a cruise. But, it is always better to be safe than sorry ;-)

Hawaii is pretty. but boring..it's like Florida with mountains but without amusement parks. You can get a good cruise a lot cheaper in the Carribbean

Cruising anywhere is so boring. Eat, eat ,eat sleep eat, eat , eat. Going to Hawaii is so boring ! Every Corn Farmer in Iowa has been there twice. Catch a plane, go somewhere and have an adventure.
Have fun !

Do you mean taking a cruise from the mainland to Hawaii? I don't think that's something I'd want to do - it takes like 5 days to get there and another 3 to get back. That's 8 days of travel at sea - I would go stir crazy.

Taking a cruise *starting* in Hawaii would be ok, but I just don't know that it would be worth it. I'd much rather take a Mexican Cruise on a nice cruise line than a so-so cruise of Hawaii. When I go to Hawaii, I'll probably want to chill out on a beach for a week, with a few sightseeing things thrown in.

I don't know about the ocean being rougher - we hit terrible squalls and seas in the Caribbean and the ship was really really swaying, but even in drizzle in Mexico, the ship was fine.

What ever you decide, have a safe & fun trip!

I've taken a cruise from Southampton (UK) to New York and that was pretty horrible. Took 6 days. i felt horrible the whole way so only do it if you know for sure that you wont get sea sick. I've done the smaller cruises as well round France, Italy and Spain beforehand which were really nice, different place each morning.
Try to check out the entertainment before you book as the ship can get very boring unless you like to eat, sleep or walk round in circles!
As for comparing the Pacific the the Atlantic, wouldn't have thought they'd be much difference. Both huge, cold and windy. Take something warm.
