How easy is it to get alcohol on a cruise if your underage?

i've heard that if somebody gets caught buying drinks for the under 21's on ships that arent docked at a port, they will kick the entire group off at the next stop and force them to pay for and find their own way home. Its in all of the cruise lines' policies

I think its really really hard for an underaged to buy drinks because his or her info will be available and the age wil be on there (and could get flagged too)

Not easy. If your on an American cruise line and you are under 21 don't even think about trying to get any alcohol. Come on, you can have fun without alcohol!!

It's pretty easy. The last cruise I went on I think it was last July , I got offered alcohol all the time and I was only 16. They didn't really check , but if you look old enough, they normally turn their cheek. I don't know if it's gotten stricter since then. But if you are going to , don't make it too obvious.

When a group of me and my friends went on a cruise about 3 years ago, one of my friends was not 21 yet. He looked pretty young too. None of us ever got carded, but he couldn't buy alcohol with his ship credit card because it would flag that he was under 21. I got the feeling that since there are no laws against under 21 drinking, only cruise line set rules that the ship employees didn't really care. We would buy drinks for our friend on our cards and he would drink them out in the open... That reminds me.. He owes me a lot of money.

Edit: This is assuming you are 18+. Under that and you probably shouldn't be drinking.

Jon S is correct, but only in Europe. For cruising in the United states, Mexico and the caribbean and Canada, then you have to be 21 no matter what. They do indeed card you on both Princess and Carnival and are very strict. I believe some years ago, they were not strict, especially on Royal Caribbean, but that has changed. But, you certainly can drink in the ports if it is Mexico. They don't care what age you are there.

I wish i could say its hard but its not depending on your actual age. if your 18+ i would say you could get one no sweat. under 18 might be a bit harder. The legal drinking age at some locations (especially in europe) is 16 or 18. If a parent order a drink and then you order one that bartender will usually serve you alone for rest of trip indiscriminate of your age for the most part.

Note: if you are like 13 there is probably little chance.
