We did a cruise out of Puerto Rico this past May and took a taxi from the airport to the cruise port and the cab fare was $25, plus tip. At the airport they gave us a receipt that showed what the fare was going to be.

The taxis are all the same price. It runs around $45. The drivers all want a big tip so they are reluctant to give your change. Insist upon all of your change and then give them their tip.

I just got off a cruise to the Southern Carribean in Dec. The cab fare was about $40, and they will give you a reciept. Most of them speak English (San Juan is still a part of the US) so its not like a third world country.
