How true (or untrue) is it that there are many men on cruise ships looking for a girl to pick up?

Additional Details
I want to know how careful or wary I have to be of guys after only one thing.

Although I am no longer a young person (sigh!) I have been on numerous cruises. A large ship is like a floating city. When there are 2000 passengers plus another 1500 crew members, there will be all types. Do men go just to pick up women? Possibly, but it is an expensive way to find girls. Crew members are not allowed to hook up, but some do. There are numerous stories--some very scary--posted on websites like cruisecritic.com that describe close encounters as well as serious crimes. Be just as alert on board and particularly in a port as you would at home. S__t happens everywhere.

I would say it it very true. Now, not every guy is going to look for a fling, but there will be a fair share of them. A lot of families and married couples go on cruises, so I wouldn't worry too much about those people. But cruises are a lot like spring break. Guys are just looking for a one nighter. Probably a different girl for every night.

I think its not just on the cruise ship that they're looking for woman. Its everywhere, just be careful and use ur heart and brain to know someone before judging.
If you're going on the cruise , just enjoy, relax and have fun and you shouldnt worry about such things =)

I wouldn't say it's "many" men, however there will always be that set of guys who will always try to pick up girl (no matter what setting). Keep in mind that the majority of people who go on cruises are married, or in a long term relationship, and that cruises often facilitate singles meeting eachother (through singles' hours at the bars, discos, etc...) so the perception that there are more guys trying to pick up girls may seem greater than it actually is. Just be alert, and have fun!

well you never know so I'd say just to be cautious.
but i've never heard of guys doing that.

Every sailing has different people on it.
The crew may not have visited their wives for 3 months so....

Do NOT go to any non public areas of the ship
with crew or guests or anyone.

That would be the same if you were visiting a hotel.

Cruise ships are very safe if you don't get stupid.

Men are looking to pick up girls in a cruise in the library in the supermarket, etc u got the point. It is the men nature to try to pick up girls.
