well i posted this question once, but didnt get any helpful responses
So Id like to move to london, and i was thinking it maybe cheaper to travel by sea. It would pry take a day or so longer, maybe more i really dont know.
So i was wondering if anyone knows how to take a ship to the uk? I know how to buy airline tickets, but have no idea how to buy ship tickets..?

It wouldn't be cheaper to take a ship. Cruises are like vacations on the sea, so not only are you paying for transportation, you are paying for the service, entertainment, etc. Also, unless you had a traveling partner, you would pay double, because all rooms are sold as double occupancy. It's definitely cheaper to fly.
If you want to travel by cargo ship, it might be cheaper (and many times you don't have the single supplement charge). Check out this sight for more information:

First of all you need to tell what youre from if we are to give any answers and second I dont know if cruising is the right section.
The only cruise lines that gives regular crossings between america (considering that Ill guess youre an american) is Cunard but Ill think theyre tickes are far expencier than airline tickets and it takes you 5/6 days to get to london. And you dont have much store room in your cabin either.
So I would recomend some sort of cargo/postal shipping (try ups or fedex for start) for you luggage and an airline ticket for you. Try to plan your journey so that you and the luggage arrive at the same time or that the luggage can be stored untill you arrive. Johan. |

Taking a passenger ship.. if you can even FIND one.. will cost you 2 or 3 TIMES as much as airfare. If you are that afraid of flying, maybe you had better stay home.
You can't take a cruise and then leave it half way through because that is against International Law. The only way you can leave a cruise ship early is with the PERMISSION OF THE CAPTAIN... and they only way to get that is illness or an emergency. Cruise ships are CRUISE ships.. they are not common carrier passenger ships |

Well it depends where you live really. Do you live in America?
Well, assuming that you do live in America, then you could try QM2 - it's not the cheapest ship to go on, but it regularly makes trans-Atlantic voyages each way. Try the cunard website for more information.
Otherwise, you could try going on a repositioning cruise, they are common around October - December and February - April due to the amount of ships going to the Caribbean in Autumn (fall) and back to Europe in Spring. |
