I'm going on a Carnival Fantasy Cruise to Western Carribean. How were your experiences with the cruise line?

The Fantasy is a nice ship. It is the flagship in the Fantasy class ships. I was on it in October of 2005 and really enjoyed myself. Since then it has gone through a refit which has added some neat (if not major) features. The smaller ships can be more fun if you are a new cruiser simply because there are less people and everything is not as overwelming.

Here is some information about the ports on the Fantasy's W.C itinerary. Progreso (if it is on your itinerary) is a VERY poor port that a lot of people don't like. The shopping isn't that great, and everything seems to have a very run down feel. I recommend going on an excursion to one of the Mayan Sites there if that interrests you. Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins is amazing! The ride through the countryside is interesting if not a little long. Make sure you have enough time because that is a 7 hour excursion. If you want to see some Mayan ruins that are a little closer then check out the excursion to the Dzibilchaltun Ruins. It is a lot closer to the ship and honestly not as much walking but still fascinating. And you have to go swimming in the sinkhole there, that is awesome!

Cozumel is my favorite port hands down. It has a little of everything there. The shopping is really good no matter what you budget is. If you are looking for real good deals then get away from the port shops. If you dock at the downtown dock then I suggest grabbing a cab down to the tender docks about 2 miles down the road. (Just tell the driver the tender docks where the Burger King is, it will cost you 5 dollars). Once there the shopping is much better. Also there is a great small margrarita bar around the corner run by an American couple that moved down there a few years ago, called Wet Wendy's. That place is great, and all the shops around there are pretty fair.

Have FUN!

Many people enjoy Carnival ships for cruiseing. You will have fun
the prices they have are great.

the answerers who said royal carribean was great is right. Celebrity is supposed to be a great holiday.

i think you'll have a great time.

The Fantasy is a pretty decent ship. It is a bit older and doesn't have all of the bells and whistles as some of the newer ships but it does have large state rooms, good service and good dining. Also, there are alot of entertainment options on the ship.

I went a couple years ago and i thought the ship was great but royal Caribbean is the best! The ship has water works which is so cool and it does look pretty amazing if you ask me! It might look old on the outside but on the inside it looks completely new because it was just refurbished!

We just went on the CCL "Fantasy" 5-day cruise out of our home port of New Orleans May 31, 2008 and had a great time! We are avid cruisers and booked on the "Fantasy" again for Christmas 12/22/2008!

Depends on what you're looking for from the cruise.
Carnival is always great on price... you get to see a lot of destinations for not much money. You probably won't LOVE the ship - but most of the time, Carnival cruises are about getting someplace or just partying while you're on board.

Royal Caribbean is a step up in terms of rooms, restaurants and dining, atmosphere, activities etc. The price is a bit higher as well.

One of my favorites has always been Celebrity... they're a bit expensive, but well worth it... Teak deck chairs, great service, five-star dining... amazing spa - the works. Downside - it's not really "family" friendly... not a lot for small kids to do.
