I'm going on a cruise and we've got a room in the back of the boat facing out the back, are those rooms worse?

This is my first cruise, it's my honeymoon, any ideas on things that would be handy to bring?

If you have a balony cabin it can be one of the best rooms on the ship. Your view will be one of the best. Its likeu will have a panorama view of the sea. Alot of cruisers usually request and book those cabins way in advance. Enjoy!!!

Since some ships have their suits there I guess theyre not worser than any where else. Its a great wiev facing aft and youll having less disturbance from the speed wind there also. The only possible setback is if smoke is coming down from the stack but in my experience that is a minor problem since there arent much smoke from modern cruise vessels comparing to the old ones. Overall cruising is a great experience and maybe the best vacation in the world so enjoy your honoymoon and feel free to make a complainment to the ships service disk if anything is wrong. Johan

I stayed in a balcony on the back of of the Freedom of the Seas and I loved it. It was so nice and relaxing just looking out at the open ocean. You could also see the line of where the boat was at and that was pretty cool too. Congrats on your wedding!

I have never had a room facing out back, but I think it would be a great room as long as you are not prone to motion sickness. I often go to the top deck where the disco is and sit there during the day to watch from the back of the boat. it is has the best view from the ship. So, I don't know why you would think it would be a terrible room at all.

bring a barf bag if you get seasick. they say the best rooms are in the middle of the boat, because you feel less rocking. let's hope that the seas are calm and you guys have a fantastic time! take advantage of all of the activities on board, and do some evening strolls up top with your wife. you will have a grand time my friend.

You have one of the most sought after cabins on the ship, and for a honeymoon it is the best! And here is why, the aft view ...

if this your first cruise you have nothing to compare it to, but i have been on over 15 cruises and for the first time last year went on the back of the ship. loved it. first when you dock most of them will dock with the back into the port. you see every thing . in regards to bumps you will not feel anymore than at the sides. assuming you have a balcony late at night sit out there once and simple enjoy the beginning of something new in you life. enjoy it

You could go to CruiseCritic.com for the info you need. Click on "Boards" at the top of the page, then on your cruiseline name. You can then do a search for your ship and/or room number. "Cabin Selection Tips" might also have specific info on that room.

As to tips on what to bring - you can find that at CC, too. Try "First Time Cruisers". There a numerous packing lists at CC [do a search for "packing list"]. Two things I'd suggest: a clock [there are none in the cabins] and a powerstrip or extension cord [probably only one outlet in the room]. CruiseClues.com has links for packing lists, too.

I am 15 and I have been on 7 cruises but I have never had one of those rooms before! I come to this section a lot though and read about different rooms and I hear those are GREAT! I'm guessing it has a balcony?? During sailaways I think it would be so romantic for the two of you to sit out there with a bottle of wine :) Also bring Dramamine though, because if you are in the back and on a lower level, you are probably more prone to seasickness. I've never been seasick but my mom and sister have so they always take Dramamine and they are fine :)

Have fun! Cruises are the best!

Just FYI you call it a ship. The back is called the stern and when you go toward the stern you are going aft. The rooms are called cabins or staterooms. The front is the bow and to get there you go forward. Hope you have a wonderful time.
