Holla101

I'm going on a cruise soon and I want to know if the island we chose to sail to will be worth the money?

We are going with Royal Carribean, and sailing to San Juan, Puerto Rico, St. Maartan and Labadee, Hiati.

I've been to Puerto Rico. It's nice, but stay on the San Juan side. We stayed on the Ponce side, which is on the total opposite side of the island. Basically alot of the locals looked at us like we were aliens. Not many travelers stay in Ponce.

Old San Juan is nice too. It's a quaint little town.

I've been to St. Maarten. It's really cool. There are two sides of the island, one is owned by the French and the other is Dutch. When we were there we saw several rainbows, one of them was a double rainbow. You'll have fun.

I hope you are going for the ship too!!! In San Juan, I would just recommend the rainforest or shopping in town, St. Maarten great buys on liquor and linens. Also, try snorkling in St. Maarten--stay on the Dutch side, there is more activity there. Labadee is notorious for its beautiful beaches so enjoy!!

I've been to San Juan and St. Maarten with RCCL and they were both great. We did the rainforest in Puerto Rico and, actually, I was a little disappointed. It was a beautiful place, but I guess it just wasn't what I was expecting. I would have rather chosen a different shore excursion there.

St. Maarten is a neat place, but it is hot and dry. There is no natural water on the island at all. They desalinize all their water from the ocean and they get less that 15" of rain a year! You will even see cactus growing there! I was shocked!

In St Maarten, we chose to go snorkeling at Pinel Island. It was pretty neat. It's a teeny, tiny little island with one restaurant on it. The snorkeling there is nice. The water is great.

Haven't been to Haiti, so I can't give you any pointers on that one. Have a great trip, you'll love it!
