A good way to remember those important items is to use a Cruise Packing List. Find a good one here:

http://www.thecruisinginsider.com/cruisepackinglist

This one is great because the Printer Friendly Version has Checkboxes you can check, and blank spaces at the bottom to write in the 'extras' you think of.

Have a great cruise!!

Excercise as much as you can now. The food is nonstop. Have as much fun on the ship as possible. Means that you should call in sick to work so that you can sleep when you get back. Research the excursions and get informed on them now. That way you know what to expect.

Starve yourself from NOW! Try and loose a few pounds BECAUSE
you are going to overeat and put on - typically - 6/8 pounds!

passport
photo ID
medications
emergency contact numbers
bills paid in the mail
money for tips

check weather for that time on the cruise in all ports
last we had was a 7 day Tampa/Grand Cayman/Cozumel/New Orleans
(pre katrina) most of the time was 70-80's BUT
the last stop in N.O. a cold front was expected to push thru in the 50's
SO we packed heavy jackets - and when we got in line to step off the ship
everybnody looked at us like we were crazy = then they hit the gangplank
brrrrrrr - How did you guys know?? uh - the weather channel.com
and what they paid for jackets in the first shops oh my goodness!!!
highway robbery is close

all the best

ps we enjoyed the casual dining preferably to the sit down formal

pps medications - only take enough for the cruise and a day of two in reserve/ keep them with you in case your luggage is 'lost'/ I keep one spare bottle of each med to prove I have a prescription for that med, too

had a friend who had just filled a 30 day Rx for a class 2 narcotic - and they lost it somehow ( I think they had help)
Dr would not refill and they were really in pain for 25 days

be wise

Exercise clothing; you'll need it with all the food you'll be eating. And extra cash for photos. I know you plan to walk with your own camera, but when you're best dressed you'll hardly use it, and the pros really make you look elegant. Get a good pair of shades and some sunblock, plus extra stuff for your hair and skin because of all the swimming and water sports. Have a great time!
