No. Definitely not. That would be like casual nights and some cruise lines don't let you wear jeans in the dining room period. That is more of a casual night thing. Anyhow on FORMAL NIGHT, if your a guy you should wear nice slacks and a dress shirt and tie, and for girls you should wear a nice dress or a nice skirt and blouse. Since of your age if wont matter as much but you still want to look nice and presentable. I am taking into account your age but that would be totally unacceptable and you would be looked upon like an outcast. So those are really the only options. Its not that bad though you can change after dinner but its an hour and a half long. Be prepared. Have fun.

Captains night is usually the formal dining night. If you dine in the sit down dinaing hall, the captain will join you all for dinner. It is a formal affair, no jeans, no shorts. Men wear suits or a tux, women wear a gown or formal evening dress, NO pant suits. Some ships require passengers to wear their formal attire for the entire evening. The cruise ship information should contain the accepted rules for the formal night. Longer cruises will have two formal nights.

no this is a formal occasion, slacks and a button down shirt should be the minimum so not to stick out.

im 15 too and i'm going on a carnival cruise tomorrow (sensation)
from things that i heard, captain's night is a little more formal so i think you should wear a dress. if you do decide to wear jeans, make sure they are a little nicer and wear heels wth them to dress it up.

which ship are you going on?

Julie T
No jeans on the formal night.

At minimum, a pair of dark slacks and a nice shirt.

You will see most of the folks in ties, jackets and some in tuxes.
