I'm going on my first cruise. Any suggestions on how much to tip the porters, etc?

my hubby and i have gone on ncl. cruise line and what they do is add $10 a day per person in the stateromm/ cabin so if you stay 7 days they will add $ 70 for you and $ 70 for say a freind , hubby or whom ever they add it to your master card but when you get read out of your bill it will be broken down into days. 10 $ for each day that takes care of the person who cleaned your room to the person who waited on you. also another thing is this keep all your recipets till the end of your trip and compare it before you pay your bill. they have a soda card you can buy which helps but you get all the ice tea and punch you want so be carefull how you spend your money that way also if you take pictures from the person on the boat and you dont like them you dont have to pay for them just cause they took them doesnt mean you have to pay . as far as drinks go get the drink of the day which is cheaper . each day there is a bulletion that comes to your room they will tell you what drinks and amount they are also where and a show is the staff will be more than happy to anwser any question you have but if you want i think you might want to call my travel friend from ncl tom cutrera 1800 327 7030 ext. 70 32 and he will help big time just tell him his freind from ct. said he is the best.

A dollar per bag is the standard fee, but to tell you the truth, I usually don't tip them at all unless they do something out of the ordinary. I do tip the bus driver who takes me and my bags from the airport to the ship port though.

porters-$1 per bag. most cruise lines autimatically charge the tips for the cabin steward and waiters to your on board account (altough if they are really good, i give a cash tip also) there is also a 15% tip automatically included on bar orders

You should be getting this info from your agent. The previous answers are correct, except for the one who doesn't tip porters. You should at least tip $1 per bag and if you want them to be careful, make it $2 per bag.
