I'm going on my first cruise, what do you recommend I should bring? |
It's to the Caribbeans and I just don't wont to regret that I didn't bring anything.
Anyone recommend any certain excursions either? |

I've only been on one cruise, but it did give me some insight into what I should expect to bring next time.
Gravol. The ships always have these bands you can put around your wrist to stave off motion sickness, but I prefer to bring the stuff just in case.
Sunscreen - to the Caribbean, it's absolutely mandatory. I prefer a higher SPF like SPF 45 - even if you tan easily, it's better to be safe than sorry.
Aside from underwear and the usual toiletries like makeup, feminine products, prescriptions, etc., the most important things you should consider bringing on your cruise are:
Two bathing suits - one to wear while the other is drying. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT bring a thong bikini unless you think you'll be sun tanning on the Costa del Sol or the French Riviera!
A bathing suit wrap/ coverup
Casual light cotton clothing for day trips on land (shorts, t-shirts, a couple of summer casual dresses, a pair of jeans and/or capri pants - please do not bring Daisy Dukes or any other cut-off type shorts that make you look hoochy)
A pashmina or wrap for evenings when the ocean breeze can sometimes get cooler
A light casual jacket for when it rains or during evenings when it does get a bit cooler
At least one "dressy" dress for evenings out or if you get invited to sit at the Captain's table. I'd go for black, light-weight crepe or a cotton/silk/polyester combination -- something that doesn't crumple so much from being in a suitcase.
Dancing shoes
Comfortable walking shoes and socks for those land excursions
Flipflops for the beach or swimming pools
A couple of pairs of sunglasses and a bandana
A dressy handbag for evening out
A backpack for those land excursions
And don't forget your camera (plus the batter charger) for all those lovely photos you'll be taking.
I think that's it... oh yeah.... always bring a small amount of cash - not all places you might go to will take credit cards especially the small "mom and pop" places and don't forget your passport!
Enjoy! |

I would bring 2 outfits per day. One for your excursion and one for the evening. Bring at least 2-3 swimsuits cause if one is wet then you can wear the other. Bring an empty suitcase or carry on and slip it in your luggage for souvenirs. Bring a travel alarm clock with you so you always have a back up plan should the one in your cabin not work. You did not really specify where you will be going in the caribbean so I could not tell you what sorts of excursions to do. Bring an underwater camera, and extra batteries for your digital. And your charger. Bring the 2 outfits per day like I suggested and and then 2 EXTRA outfits, one for day, one for night. You never know if you will need them! I did this and came home with only one clean pair of shorts left! Bring extra underwear too. Not to be clean freakish but I brought a travel pack of Lysol wipes to wipe down the door knobs, phone, and anything else you touch. I know they clean very well but thinking about how many people have touched those things creeps me out! Bring a pair of slippers too! I hope I helped and let me know if you need more advice!! |

Most important thing is SUN tan lotion, sun reflected from water burns very quickly. Mostly summer type clothes and some nice evening wear as I believe most cruises have formal dinner and evening activities. Hiking shoes too for when you go exploring in the different ports you visit. Have fun. |

Clothes, for sure.
Basic cosmetics/toiletries
Anything that you can listen to music on.
Probably some seasick medicine. [we went to the bahamas on a cruise and my cousin and I got seasick on the last day]
Umm. Cameras. [either a digital one or lots of disposable ones there are some gorgeous sights]
That's the basic essentials. Hope I helped. [: |

register with cruise critic, there is a plethora of information to be found. I've gone on three cruises and they've been very helpful, just pay attention to the forums as you'll find repeated questions. Oh, and if you drink alcohol, get the wristbands (seasick) for the cruise before you go. They're about $15 on the cruise. |

Bring a yellow highlighter for the to do list they drop each evening for the next day. comfortable shoes, comfortable sports wear clothes, at least 2 bathing suits they don't dry to fast in the cabins. Extra hangers to make it easier to put clothes away. (don't pay extra for baggage on airline tho) power strip for your electronics. don't use your cellphone. Walkie Talkies work well on some ships. Go to cruisecritic.com for all sorts of great info. Have a great time you will never forget it. |
