I have been on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian. In my opinion Royal Caribbean is the best. If I had to choose between Carnival or Norwegian I would have to go with Norwegian. The food on all the ships are about the same, but Norwegian has the better of the two. The Bahamas are great, there are plenty of thing to do there. First, the snorkeling there is great. Very clean water and plenty of fish. The Bahamas are also the Shark capital of the Caribbean, so if you are interested in a caged or live shark dive there are plenty of places available for that. You can also check out the Atlantis Hotel and Casino, it is a fine establishment and very fun to hang out at. The shopping here is good also, good prices on jewelry and liquor. Lastly, there is a great zoo and botanical gardens place that has great animals. It is a very fun place, do not overlook this place. Have Fun!

Carnival is called the " fun ship " for a reason. In Nassau the locals sort of attack you wanting to braid your hair, and get you to take their taxi's and so forth. Once past the locals you can go to Paradise Island or wherever you want. Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk are lots of fun..The fun days at sea on the Carnival ships were always great for me. Great ships, great food, and entertainment, and comfortable beds for sure...Have fun!

I'd go on Princess, I went on it last year and loved it :D
Great food, great shows, great people, ect.

NCL has had plenty of upgrades and are doing a great job. They also have the youngest ships!
Insurance is always a good dea.

I personally like Carnival better. There's plenty to do at the Bahamas. When you decide what line to go on, you can check out their shore excursions online or book them when you board the ship. You can also do your own research if you don't want to pay through the cruise line.

If you want to limit your choices to Norwegian or Carnival, I would definitely go with Norwegian. However, if you are willing to cruise with another line, I recommend Celebrity.

And I absolutely do not think it's necessary. Use the money on the ship =]
