So many of them are great, it really just depends what you like.
For me it would have to be:
Value budget: Royal Caribbean, I think that the line, service, boats, etc. are a little nicer than Carnival. Prices are usually about the same and in some cases a little less. Carnival seems to have more younger kids and families on board and then more college-aged kids that want to party. Carnival is definitely more of a party boat, where Royal Caribbean is a little less "party" oriented.
Moderate budget: Disney. First, I love Disney, so it isn't quite fair. I still think that it is one of the best moderate cruise lines. The service is one of the best they will do anything for you. The rooms are a little nicer and the shows are amazing.
Luxury line: Oceania or Crystal. Very luxurious lines, service oriented with some of the best food available. The ports for more expensive lines tend to be more exotic. More adults so it is a little more laid back on board.
Then you also have some of the smaller cruise lines and yachts, but that is really completely different. |

I've only been on two, but I just got back from one a few weeks ago. It was on the Holland America ship, Maasdam. It was a great experience because everybody on the ship was so friendly. Also, I made tons of new friends, and I know that many of those friendships will be lifelong. So that was my favorite cruise. I don't know if that's exactly what you were asking or not, but that's my answer. |

My favorite was the Carnival Destiny out of San Juan. Great boat, beautiful ports to visit except for one. Wonderful service. I would go on this one again. You get to stay in the ports for long periods of time allowing you to actually see them and not just do a quick zip on and off. Barbados was my favorite. |

Ive only been on 3 but my favorite was our Southern Caribbean cruise in 6/2003. My mom, sister & I went on the Carnival Destiny to: St Thomas, Martinique, Barbados & Aruba. I hve never had that much fun in my life. Great shopping, great people, great food, great fun. The people on the ship knew how to have fun, the unlimited pizza & ice cream was the best. We had a room with a balcony which was perfect for night time lounging. The entertainment was good, not cheesy like I expected. Martinique left a little to be desired but it was still beautiful in some parts. Aruba was the best!! Beautiful scenery, nice people. I thought I met my husband in St Thomas, LOL. He was gorgeous. St Thomas also had good shopping particularly jewelry & alcohol. The weather was perfect in all places. It rained once in Aruba, ironically RIGHT after our tour guide said on the speaker "It hardly ever rains in Arubaaa"......<downpour!>.....It was alot of fun though, just being with my mom & sister. U dont have to worry about what others think of you because you will never see those people again. Let your hair down & loose your inhibitions......within reason anyway!! |

I've been on a few & I seem to like Carnival Cruise lines the best, maybe because I'm a social smoker & drinker. At least 2 other cruise lines "for me" seemed like they were geared more towards retired people, and that's fine!
I just like CCL better because of the clubs, and games that they had. No matter which cruise line or destination you choose you will have fun.
They are all gonna show you a great time :-) |

I have been on Holland America and Carnival before. I have been to Mexico, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten/Martin and St. John. I can't tell you which one I liked better because I liked them for different reasons. The Holland America line is definitely the more expensive of the 2, but it is the nicest one. Me and my husband went on that one and it was our first. Carnival is a party line and also the cheapest line. My husband and I went on this on with another couple and it was fun for that reason. I am currently booked on my next trip in Sept. and me and my husband are going on a 7-day out of Miami and going to Belize, Honduras, Mexico and Grand Cayman. We booked back in Feb. and we got a past guest discount so we are paying $479/person and that is with all the fees and taxes. I can't really tell you the best which one was the best.
If you are wanting a discount trip, visit all the cruise line websites and see if they have specials or go to www.vacationstogo.com and click on the "90 day ticker" icon and it will give you a lot of cruises leaving in 90 days for a good percentage off the normal Peirce. |
