I've heard of ppl bringing bottled water onboard, but can u bring your own alcoholic bevs onto a cruise ship? |
My boyfriend and I are going on a Carnival cruise at the end of July and we're both "first-timers". From what we've heard, bottled water, sodas, and alcoholic bevs are avail at additional cost! A family member told us that they'd packed bottled water in their luggage. And i was wondering if we could do the same, but with alcohol!!!!!!!!!
We've already spent way too much money plannin this whole thing and now are trying to figure out ways to save!!!
Thanks in Advance!!!!!!!!!!1 |

Can I Bring Liquor On Board?
A liquor and beverage consumption policy was created in order for Carnival to be able to control the liquor consumption of minors and the quantities consumed that lead to the disruptive behavior of others on board.
Liquor and Beverage Policy
Bringing Alcohol On Board - Embarkation
Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages onboard. However, guests (21 years and older only) may bring one bottle of wine or champagne per person on board only during embarkation at the beginning of the cruise. A $10 corkage fee per bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the dining room or a $14 corkage fee per bottle in the Supper Club. Guests may bring a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages.
All alcohol, additional quantities of wine/champagne or excessive quantities of non-alcoholic beverages will be confiscated and discarded without compensation. Guests may purchase a variety of beverages on board the ship. Alcoholic beverages will not be sold or served to anyone under the age of 21. We reserve the right to refuse the sale of alcoholic beverages to anyone. Alcoholic beverages purchased in the ship’s gift shops or in ports of call will be retained by Carnival until the end of the voyage.

You are NOT allowed to bring on alcoholic beverages. It will be confiscated. If you try to sneak it on and get caught, you may be refused passage and no refund.
Do not be so CHEAP. You hopefully are not going to stay drunk the whole time. Just buy a couple of drinks a day and enjoy them.
Yes, you can bring bottled water onboard or soda. Once again, with the soda, you can buy a card for unlimited soda for about $5 per day. That is classier than bringing it onboard.
I certainly hope you went through a cruise broker to get deeply discounted tickets for your cruise. Only fools pay retail. |

Do not try to bring liqueur on board!! It's not worth it. The drinks are not that expensive and besides you don't want to spend all your time drinking do you? I wouldn't even bother to bring sodas. Why have the extra weight in your luggage. Save that space for clothes and shoes. Coffee, tea, juice, and water are free. We were given bottles of water to take with us every time we got off the ship! |

When we went on a cruise last summer we brought on sodas and they didnt seem to mind. We brought them in a cooler and they let us through. It was on a Royal Caribbean cruise so I imagine it would be the same but Im not sure about alcohol? To tell you the truth I highly dont think they will. Sorry. The alcohol on there is expensive too! Good Luck!! |

You can try, but I do know that if they find it, the least they will do is confiscate it. I know of people who have been refused passage. You need to read the ticket contract. I personally would not want to jeopardize my vacation over that. |

Hey, I know how you feel. When I was a senior in high school we took a princess cruise for our senior trip. We were all 18 and there is no way in hell we would have been able to drink on the ship. We had 4 guys per room and we figured if we could get 2 handles in per room we would have been ok. We decided upon handles of absolut and then we divided up the handles into water bottles. It ended up being 12 water bottles (20 oz. bottles) between 4 people. I carried my share of 3 bottles with me that looked almost exactly like water (I would say do not try it with a dark liquor). We got them on, and it made the cruise more worthwile.
To answer your question, the cruise people didn't even really look through our stuff and honestly they just scanned the stuff for metal. You should be fine but I would suggest not doing it with a darker liquor. I guess it looks kind of shady if you have your water bottle in your check-in bag, so we had ours in our back packs. Give it a try, but read the fine print because you don't want to get into big trouble.
Good luck and enjoy. |

Having worked for Holland America cruise Line, you may bring alcohol on board, so long as it is in your luggage. The best thing to do is buy bottles of booze on board the ship, and open them. ( ships don't like this, but they do allow it.) You will pay a convenience fee, but still way cheaper than paying for each drink. |

I'm not sure about Carnival but I went on a cruise with Royal Caribbean and we were not allowed to bring alcohol from the states but were allowed to bring them from the Islands we purchased them from once we stopped. But they kept them and returned them when we got back to the states. |
