Yes, It is quite expensive, but it depends are the date you are planning to go. Also, you might want to change your destination if price is a big concern. I understand you don't want to take a plane with two kids, However, flying and departing from different port offers you more destinations for less price ..

There are number of 5 day cruises to Bermuda for that price, your best bet is to play around on vacationstogo to find a cruise that meets your criteria.

are either of you 55+ in the military, law enforcement or fire department? they now offer great specials on royal caribbean...what state do you live in?
also on carnival they offer some cheaper (not by much) options to the bahamas and caribbean as well from new york.
another option is driving to baltimore and leaving from there...some cheaper options to the bahamas..
