All I can is GOOD LUCK....Just about the only way you are going to get around that is to agree to bunk with someone you don't know and hope for the best. You will either get a great cabinmate, a real pain in the butt or get really lucky and there won't be anyone to share with but since you agreed you will get the cabin to yourself. You could try freighter travel, Carnival sometimes has some decent deals for the single traveler. It sucks, I know. I do it all the time. You just have to shop around. you might also try www.vacationstogo.com They have some trips that are fairly reasonable for a single traveler.

on certain cruiselines, if you agree to room with someone else that may be traveling alone you can get the lower rate. check with the cruiseline and make sure that is their policy. you probably won't have the room with someone else unless it is a full ship.

you may want to search around but I seem to recall that there was a website for people to find others to share rooms on cruises. That really is the only way to avoid the single suppliment unless you go on a single cruise.

Its very rare that a cruise line allows for singles. I'm assuming you do not want to room with anyone else. In that situation, most cruise lines will charge anywhere from an additional 25-100% of the rate for that cabin. If you're not particular about where you are cruising, you might be able to find a line that requires only a minimal amount over the dbl occ rate. You might also consider a repositioning cruise when ships are moved from Europe to the Caribbean in the Fall or from the Caribbean to Europe in the Spring, but you will stop at only a few ports and the majority of the cruise will be crossing the Atlantic, which can be chilly and windy. You might be able to swing a single cabin on this type of cruise. Good Luck!
