Check out:

They have both long and short cocktail dresses and wraps.

Check out the SALE link for some very affordable options.

Don't get too worried about the "formal" nights. On Carnival, you will see every type of dress from very dress, prom type dresses to casual sun dresses.

Wear what makes you comfortable and will help you enjoy the experience.

My young daughters (9 and 12) love the formal nights. They spend weeks seeking out just the right dress.

You can also hit JC Penney's clearance rack this weekend. They are clearing out all of the little black dresses from the Christmas season. @ 75% off, there are some great deals on the racks.

well: according to "Travel Fashions " you can wear a nice "Formal Dinner Dress " so here's one http://www.formal.dinnigdress.com maybe long sleeve type ok?

On Carnival, you can get away with a nice, simple black dress for formal night, and other people look like they're going to prom. Just as long as it's a nice dress, you should be fine. I wouldn't go sundress or anything though.

Don't go too formal unless you have to. The cruiseline will give you direction. I wouldn't spend much if you will never wear the dress again. Every woman on the boat will be wearing a black dress. I went with something completely different and I'm glad I did.

You want to look nice, however, I've been on a carnival cruise (it's a BLAST) and cocktail dresses would be WAY too formal for the formal dining room dinners. I mean WAY too formal.

You could wear any type of summer or spring dress and be fine - more than dressed enough.

Mainly senior citizens were dressed formally. The 50 and under crowd were like dressy/casual.

Also, if you think all of the desserts sound good and can't choose - you can just order all of them. Same goes for appetizers and entrees! Enjoy yourself, let loose, have a decadent blast - it's what carnival cruises are all about. You'll be so glad you went!

Don't make such a big deal of it, some don't even dress up! Wear whatever you want and it will be fine! You'll want to be out of anything formal as soon as dinner is over anyway! Really, women wear dressy casual to formal so whatever will be fine! Have a great time!

You should go to Kohls. They have some really cute dresses of all kinds. While you're there, you can even get a couple of other outfits just to have. They have really cute clothes in general. Have fun and look great. Peace!

You have some really good answers already... but just one other idea... try to find something that doesn't wrinkle! Maybe something stretchy and slinky (cocktail hour). Your dress (if you are flying in) could be squashed in a suitcase for hours!!

Think.... pack at home, board the plane, fly to Florida (or drive to the port), check the bag at the cruise terminal, wait until it shows up at your cabin... (even then, you will probably be involved with the lifeboat drill... and then you will want to watch the ship pull out of port... and then... well, you get it!)

You can have things cleaned and ironed (at a cost) or you can do it yourself... but WHO wants to spend time doing laundry!!

Think stretchy!

Black cocktail dresses are best for a cruise

CctbOh
Sparkly ones are the most popular and if you are young chose a short one. It doesn't have to be a formal dress just a nice one.

Depends on what you can afford. If you can spend a lot of money, try the major department stores. If not, try Marshall's
TJ Max, any of the discount stores. Have fun!
