I am going on a cruise at the end of this month? |
I am cruising with Carnival, Holiday. The people going with me are mostly younger (18-21) We have 2 people going with us that are over 25. You have to have someone 25 or older in each room. So we didnt really end up in the rooms that we wanted. Of course to 2 people over 25 are going to want to room together, and then 2 of the younger people will be with them, and then the other 4 of us will be in the other room, at least this is the way we want to do it. So my question is, even though we are booked in certain rooms, do you think we could pull off being in the rooms that we wanted? To they check the rooms to make sure the your where your suppost to be? This is my first cruise, so im going in kinda blind! Thanks in advance! |

They don't do bed checks, and you don't have to be sneaky about it either.
I was on the Holiday in January 2001 (when it was in Los Angeles). I booked three cabins, and had one person over the age of 25 in each cabin - as booked. However, two of the people were married and the other two where their teenage daughters. We wanted the two girls to have the middle cabin to themselves and were very up front about it.
Nobody at Carnival had any problem with what were were doing. We had new Sail & Sign cards made so the girls had keys to their own cabin in their name. The cabin staff knew the girls were together in one cabin. I even ordered gifts for both girls and had them sent to the one cabin.
On paper there was one person over the age of 25 in each cabin. For the reasons noted above, this did not exist in reality. You will have no problems switching cabins, and to make it easier, ask to have the keys (the Sail & Sign cards) reissued so everyone has a cabin key in their own name.
Enjoy your cruise. |

You can switch if you want to the only problem is the room key. The room key is also your credit card while on the boat and your boarding pass when you leave it so you will need to keep the key even though you may be rooming with someone else. This can be an issue when the person without the room key wants to get in the room. We got past this by having adjoining room and leaving the adjoining door unlocked during the day. That way it did not matter which room you entered. |

No they do not check your rooms to make sure that you are there. It honestly doesn't matter--they really don't care. I think that do that for legal reasons.
I went on a cruise after my graduation with about 12 of my classmates. We each had a parent and the parents just roomed/stayed together while we roamed around. |

I know they didn't check us once our bags and things got in the room. However, one person was over 25 but I seriously doubt they would waste the time. The only thing is your final bill will go to the room your assigned as will your luggage. The only thing you should have to do is move your luggage to the new room, or you could switch luggage. By switching luggage I mean say your friends bag is your bag so you don't have to worry about dragging bags all around. Have fun!!

I guess as long as youre on the ship, you cant go missing. Hope you enjoy your trip. They are fun. Where are you going to? |

It's highly unlikely they will check or care. That said, two things to be aware of...
(1) Your key card is your charge card and ID card (important when leaving the ship, and they take your picture). So whoever swaps rooms will not have a key for his "new" room.
(2) Fly under radar. If you are loud, boast about your arrangement, or otherwise cause problems then security may have to do something. They don't want a liability issue on their hands. (Cruise lines are stricter now than in 2001, so I'd be cautious about being as open as Zef H was on his cruise.)
Since this is your first cruise, you might find this "Intro to Cruising" helpful. It talks about how to avoid getting sea sick, what costs are included/extra, etc.:
http://www.cruisesavvy.com/node/930
Also, there's a "Know Before You Go" guide that covers what to pack, how to minimize hangovers, etc.:

Have an awesome trip! |
