Considering that you are entering terriorty waters it would be a wise idea to have one with you. Especially if a problem was to occur. Best ask your travel agent. |

Probably not true as you will need a passport to get on the ship in the first place as it is sailing to foreign shores |

As long as you have a Birth Certificate and photo ID, right now, you don't need a passport anyway to cruise. we have ours, but we travel a lot. I think this is changing in the early part of next year though. |

Passports are not needed for cruises to the Caribbean region...and you certainly may leave the ship. Even in June 2009 when passports become necessary for sea travel, "loop" cruises that begin and end in the same U.S. port will be exempt. some cruise lines like passengers to have a passport, so it is wise to ask their policy. |

i think this is a load of tosh myself. my in-laws have been on several cruises,one where they visited russia,and the russian police boarded the ship to check everyones passport,so my guess is take one. |
