I just returned last week from a cruise in the Mediterranean (Spain, Italy, and France) on the Disney Cruise Ship "Magic". I was very impressed, almost overwhelmed, by the great reception, organization, and hospitality of the Disney Cruise. It's my first cruise and my first time to Europe...so I was apprehensive.
A year ago I started to research and found alot of good cruise lines and locations to get good feedback on cruises across the globe. Each cruise line has their own web site to get core info and there are other websites that tell you what was good (or not so good) experiences on each ship.
I went through our AAA Travel specialist, but now that I know more, I realized I could have done this on my own with planning and homework. Being a worry-wort, I probably did more research that than most but I wasn't worried I my flight would be messed up, no one to pick me up at the airport, no hotel reservation, missing luggage.....ALL that was for naught as Disney had everything ready, organized, and on-time from the moment I landed to the day I left.
Disney is not just for kids. Since this was our 25th Anniversary, I went thinking this would be like a Disney Resort and I was impressed at how Disney had programs and about 70 counselors on staff to run activities from about 7:00 AM to midnight for young kids, teens, adults (Families, couples, single parents, etc).
The shows were first rate... a blend of traditional Disney with more Broadway, Magician, Comeday and/or Cirque themes.
Best thing is to define what you want and where you want to go. I was thinking of doing this for over 25 years....I was nervous.....but I was very glad I did it.
Good Luck and Have Fun. |

try cruisecritic.com, they can answer all your questions in the boards section. I am a diamond member for royal caribbean and go once a year. i personally like the bigger ships with lots of activities. i also base my ship depending on what islands it is visiting. i would look at cruise websites and see what islands you would like to see before you pick out a ship. You will have a blast |

Go ahead and pay extra for the good room with the private deck. It is well worth the money. |

Cruises are great. Get a cabin with a balcony, it is well worth the extra money. Royal Caribbean is my favorite line, and Princess is also good. |

Again, my advice is to use a Professional Cruise Specialist especially for a "first timer". Not only places to go but ships/cruise lines to do it on.
Although they all have food, entertainment, activities and accomodation choices, each cruise line has certain demographic they attract - families, retired folks, people who want "high energy" (night life), beach activities, cultural, or just plain relaxation all plays a part in the right choice for you (or anyone) when making the choice. Not to take away value! The best price is NOT always the best value. That's why a professional is the smart thing.
Not sure if this is allowed but there is a wealth of information on our website www.bestcruise4u.com. Feel free to browse around.
Our worse day at sea (over 30 cruises) was better than my best day at work! <grin>
