Try looking around the Southampton area, Most cruise Ship leave from there. P&O might be worth looking at. I have seen them advertise in papers around there. Try googling the Southern Evening Echo.

It depends on what job you want to do. Most staff are employed though agents. You should contact the cruise company direct or through thier website to find out who their agent is.

There will be different agents for different jobs, eg casino, beauty salon, restaurant staff etc.

The wages are usually pretty low as tipping is a big culture on cruise ships and it makes up the majority or your salary. When I worked for Norwegian Cruise Line in 1989/1990 my monthly pay as US150! Though I did make US700 a week in tips on top.

You should also consider the what market the cruise is aimed at for example young or old people. Young people dont tip as much but you will be working with a younger crowd of people which may be more appealing to you. However the more upmarket and sophisticated cruises are a little more formal with a better quality of passanger.

Some of ne new ships are truly huge now carrying 2500 passangers or more and most likely about 1250 crew so remember you will be living with almost 4000 people at a time and you will not have much privacy. Low grade staff are sometimes 4 person to 1 cabin. A cabin is about 5m x 3 m in size at the very best and you may not have a port hole so you will live in air con 24/7.

Low grade staff such as porters and waiting staff are generally not permiited to be seen in public areas off duty so your life will be even more restricted and you will continue to work when the ship is in port.

Cruise ships run like a military operation so dont go thinking you will have a huge holiday. On the upside you will meet alot of people and have a nice life in the sunshine and the chance to make some money with no overheads so you can save. (If you resist spending all in port)

So - contact all the cruiselines, find the agents and apply. Do not lose hope if you do not get in first time. Good luck in persuing your dream.

I would simply contact the cruise companies directly. Sometimes they advertise in the papers but just email or write with an enquiry. Other places to look are in the travel magazines. Cruise companies include Royal Caribbean, P&O, Carnival, Fred Olsen, Thomsom, Cunard, Disney.

Go online and get their details there. Also check the online jobs websites. You will earn tax free on a ship so that makes up for the low wages.

www.catererglobal.com advertise from time to time for cruise staff. They only advertise about twice a year though. The interviews are held in Southampton for P&O then you need a visa and a marine medical which marine docs only appear to be based in London and one in Preston.
On the web I gave, you need to put in the type of job, then 'worldwide' then 'cruise' then 'search'
