Do yourself a favor, and bring a parent. You can't rent a car or drink alcohol until you're 21 pretty much anywhere you cruise to, but with an adult you can bend the rules as they allow. So it's a lot more fun to go when you're that age if you really want to go alone.
As for websites, go to CruisesOnly.com. Been on three cruises, and the one I didn't book there was the only one I've ever had a problem with.
And for rooms - go ahead and get the cheapest rooms in the belly of the ship. When you're on the ship it's typically moving, and at night. You'll have to sleep sometime! When it's daylight you're in port and then you don't care what kind of room you have. Also, even if no one's ever been seasick, you can still get seasick on a cruise ship (no more cruises for that reason with my poor green husband!) So it helps to be in the belly of the ship, closest to the water, to help with seasickness - less rocking.

Typically cruise lines require one passenger to be a minimum of 21 years old, unless the 1st and 2nd passenger are married. Some cruise lines have a minimum age requirement of 25. It just depends on the cruise line.

Carnival or Royal Caribbean would be the least expensive options, if you were able to comply with the age requirements. Usually mid-ship is best if you are prone to motion sickness. Personally, I am not a fan of interior cabins. Only because I like to see the light of day. I also am very claustrophobic, and interior cabins feel more like closets than rooms. If you don't care about the dark, then that is your most cost effective option.

Unless you are going on a 7 day, I would tell you not to waste your money on a suite. You won't spend much time in your room. There are way to many activities for that.

A Western Caribbean would also be slightly less than an Eastern.

Personally I love cruising, but you cant go unless you have one person 25 or older to go with you. If youa re going to go take a parent. Now while I would love to tell you alllll about cruising, if I turned back the clock 10 years, I would reccomend just going down to Mexico for a couple of days. I think you guys would have a better time than on a cruise.

If you do want to bring mom or dad do a short 3-5 day cruise perhaps out of long beach to mexico, or Flordia to Cozumel or Cancun.

I still think Cancun would be the route to go for a bunch of 18 year olds....

I am a travel agent and I specialize in cruises. I have some bad news for you.... at least 1 person in the cabin has to be 21 or older.

My husband and I went on a cruise a few years ago and loved every minute of it. We went on the first 14 stories ship from Royal Caribbeans. Our trip took us to the west Caribbeans. We stopped at a private beach, Jamaica and then to Cancun.
They had to dinner times early or late, we chose the late and had great table mates we started to hang out with them.
I always tell people that if you don't like to be waited on hand and foot, you won't like it.
We had a window in our cabin, and to tell you the truth I don't think it really matters where you are because you're not in your room enough for it to matter. Unless you are honeymooners. Our cabin wasn't high up, and we had some rough seas overnight and the people that were up high with the balconies complained of being seasick. So my advice would be a window room, in the lower areas.
They have all sorts of different cruises, some for older people and some for the younger set.

Most of the cruise websites offer basic information for first time cruisers so check that out carefully as to the basic requirements for age, passports (you definitely need a passport, about $100 investment), etc. The cheapest way to cruise would be to start with a local port, depending upon where you live, to save the cost of airfare. The cheapest time of the year is usually the beginning of December (first two weeks). If you are near Florida you can get some deals in "hurricane season". Cruise activities vary depending upon your age. There are special activities for adults and others for the younger set. Carnival has the reputation as the "fun ships" but all cruise lines cater to all age groups. For first time cruises I recommend a room as close to the middle of the ship as possible as there is slightly less rocking motion, the rest is up to you as far as inside, outside, etc. and is all going to affect the price with inside being considerably cheaper than a balcony by hundreds of dollars. You may want to check out cruises for singles and all join a group to get more planned activities. The major cruiselines all require you to be at least 21 to cruise by yourselves. If anyone is under then you need to have someone 25 in the cabin with you.

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only

Before you select an answer that you think is best you need to know that most people have answered with a bad/incorrect guess or just incorrect information. It seems that people are just guessing so they can answer a question.

The correct answer is that Carnival Cruise lines requires that the persons booking the cruise must be at least 25 years of age. ALL of the other cruise lines allow persons age 21 and above to book. Here's Carnival's policy:

"Guests are required to be 21 years old (on embarkation day) to travel. Guests under the age of 21 must be accompanied in the same stateroom by a parent or guardian 25 or older. The exceptions Carnival will make to this policy are:

Married minor couple - The booking must be documented that the couple is married. The couple must have proof of marriage at embarkation or they will be denied boarding without the benefit of a refund. "

The requirement on Royal Caribbean, Princess and other cruise lines are different. They require that at least one person be age 21 or older.

Here's the Royal Caribbean policy straight from their web site:

"No guest under the age of twenty-one (21) will be reserved in a stateroom unless accompanied by an adult twenty-one (21) years of age, or older. This age limit will be waived for minor children sailing with their parents or guardians in adjacent staterooms or under-aged married couples (proof of marriage is required). Royal Caribbean International reserves the right to ask for proof of age. Royal Caribbean Internationals age policy for gambling and consumption of alcoholic beverages is as follows: Please note: An individual's age on the date of sailing determines his or her status for the entire cruise vacation."

Here's what Princess requires:

"Passengers under the age of 21 years must be accompanied by a Passenger 21 years or older who shall assume responsibility for their care during the cruise. Each Passenger hereby agrees and warrants that he/she will supervise any Passenger in his/her care at all times to ensure all policies, along with all other rules of the Carrier and ship, are strictly adhered to by all Passengers under their supervision. No alcohol may be purchased or consumed by any Passengers under the age of 21. No Passenger under the age of 21 shall be permitted to engage in any gaming activities on board the ship. No Passenger under the age of 18 shall be permitted to purchase cigarettes or tobacco products. Passengers hereby agree not to bring alcoholic beverages of any kind (except wine and champagne) on board for consumption."

So neither you nor your friends can book on any cruise line until you are at least 21, or you have a parent, guardian, or other person of age to book the cruise AND accompany you.

So your other questions about cruises are moot at this point. Also, in preparation for going on a cruise in a few years, all of you must apply for a passport (it cost about $95 for each of you). Also, forget any suggestions others may make about forging your age as the cruise lines require positive identification for booking and boarding the ship.

umm....if you book ahead you can get a cruise for about 3-400 a person other wise you will pay out the ***
about being 18 you should wait but i dont think you have to be 18 to go with friends

I believe you could go the week that you turn 18. I have been on a couple of cruises already and I have found the cruise going from California to Mexico is a great cruise. Another great cruise which is more expensive would be the cruise in Europe, which would take you to Spain,France, Italy and Malta. They are great places to go, but not in the summer time because it can get up to 114 degrees. As for prices, the Mexico cruise would be the cheaper one. As for where you should sleep, if you girls are afraid of not looking at where your going, then you should go for the one with the balcony. I myself stayed in the room with the balcony, but I rarely went outside, because there is so much to do. I have only been on one cruise (ironically with 3 of my best friends from high school for a 10 year reunion) but it didn't live up to my expectations. I really liked most of the shore excursions, but was disappointed in the accomodations (very tight and tempers flared), and the food (they advertise it as gourmet, but everything was prepackaged and processed to death and when one friend got sick, the kitchen didn't have plain rice or broth). There were some good comedy shows, but mostly people went to the casino, or drank themselves silly on deck. I had this fantasy of lying in the sun, reading a good book during the day because I NEVER get to do that at home, but it was not to be... the library was locked, all the deck chairs were full, people just wanted to party party party. I guess it just wasn't what I expected, but if you are into the party scene, you would probably have a great time. I went on Carnival. I would try to find out what excursions are available, and if you are going to be sharing a room with more than one person, I would recommend not going for the cheapest one. Also, you might want to find out about the entertainment, whether they will let you drink (if that is what you want to do), and if any of you are vegetarian, you may want to check on food choice availability.
