I need your honest opinion? |
Ok, so as some of you may know I will be booking my cruise today. My husband and i were going over the prices and how much the whole thing would cost. He wanted me to check out Carnival- Splendor as well as Royal Carribian- Mariner of the Seas for April 26, 2009. After some research we decided we may want to scwitch cruise lines and go with Carnival.
What is your opinion on the two? If you have been on both, what is the best one? Is one better than the other?
I need help with because tonight I will be booking and I would like chose the best one. Thanks for your opinions. |

They are both great ships on reputable lines. Pretty equal if you ask me, and I am a travel agent who receives lots of feedback.
For your situation I think it is all going to boil down to your personal preferences, taking in to account the photos / pictures and brochures you have seen, along with the itinerary you like best.
On these caliber ships, Carnival tends to cater to a *slightly* younger crowd, as to where RCCL captures a little more of the older generation due to their sister cruise line, Celebrity.
I don't think you can go wrong with either of these, but if you have more individual questions, please email me from my profile link and I would be happy to share additional information with you.

I have been on Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas but not Carnival's Splendour. I loved the Mariner and would cruise on it again any time. Its one of RC's Voyager class ships and so has the promenade mall down its center with shops and eating places. It also has the roller skating and ice skating rinks and a fabulous free ice show. That's in addition to all of the other on-board activities. We loved the cabin we had (a balcony), the food, and the service. Its my understanding that the Mariner will be moved from Port Canaveral and cruise out of Long Beach next year.
Carnival's Splendor is a brand new ship and so has all of the latest amenities. You cannot go wrong with a new ship. The Mariner was launched in 2003 and so is not that old either. From what I can see from looking over the features of each ship the major difference is on-board activities. So if you and husband would like to have things like the rock climbing wall, basketball court, mini-golf, roller blading, ice skating, etc., available then go with RC. But if you are not likely to use those things then go for whichever provides the best price for essentially identical cruise itineraries. |

Well, I have been on Royal Caribbean and Holland America, but my aunt and uncle who have been on about 20 cruises have been on Royal Caribbean and Carnival, plus many more. I would highly recommend Royal Caribbean. They are amazing. They have the biggest ships in the world with the most ammenities and innovations. My aunt and uncle said that Carnival is definately not as nice as RCI. They say Royal Caribbbean is one of their favorite cruise lines. Mariner of the Seas is an amazing ship. I hav been on it, and it is a lot of fun. I would definately recommend it. Royal Caribbean is the best. |

Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas is definitely one of the best ships afloat. It has many great activities for you and your husband to do and for you to do alone. You can go to the spa while your husband goes to the casino. Or you can both take a stroll down the Royal Promenade. Plus, it has a rock wall, ice skating rink, roller blading rink, and mini putt putt.
I don't really know much about Carnival's Splendor but I do know its a major party cruise line with a bunch of drunk, partying singles. I've been on both lines and I like Royal Caribbean much better. Good luck on the cruise booking and have fun on your vacation! |

ROYAL CARIBBEAN!!!!!!!! It is sooooooo much better than Carnival by far! We would never go to a carnvial cruise after going on RC! The staff is so nice and the ships are amazing! Their are a lot of places to eat on board and so many activites! And the ports they choose are great! To tell you the truth carnival is more of the discount cruise. While RC is a good priced line and has excellent service. The Mariner is a wonderful ship! It has a rock wall and many other fun activities that just royal caribbean can offer! I have heard soo many bad things about Carnival and so many people have had bad expirences on it and said they would never go back. We would never go on anything BUT Royal Caribbean! you will not be disapointed on RC! It is the BEST! have fun and good luck on your cruise! look around at their website:
www.RoyalCaribbean.com and i would suggest you and your husband go over what things you want and search around to find the best cruise! Maybe you would rather try carnvial and i'm sure you'll still have fun but i would reccomend RC to anyone any age! HAVE FUN! |

they are both great ships and lines. I have never heard a complaint about either. They both offer pretty much the same ammenities and activities. I have heard more good things about Carnival but only because I've seen more people take it. But I can tell you that both are amazing and you'll have a great time no matter which one you take. |

Carnival is one big step below RC. I have heard only praise for RC. I have heard a lot of complaints about Carnival, from the food to the accommodations. If your budget allows it definitely go with RC. And, RC is geared more to the young crowd, whereas RC covers all age ranges. |
