This is kinda confusing for alot of people right now.
ok For Cruises, Land, and walk across borders, you will have to have a passport as of Jan 2008.

For right now you only have to have a passport for traveling by air outside the US to caribbean, canada, and mexico.

So your answer is no!, however if I were you I would get a passpor,t you gonna need it to leave the USA as of Jan 2008 no matter how you are traveling.

yes you need a passport to travel outside the U.S. it started on Jan. 1 of this year. You may want to check I think proof that you applied will only work until the end of September and after that you do have to have your actual passport.

November is a good ways away. This would be an excellent time to apply for a passport. Even if you would not need a passport for this trip, it is always good to have a passport. You never know when you might want to take a trip on short notice.

You will need to have proof that you have applied for a passport a certified copy of your birth certificate.

The passport requirement for ship travel starts in January of 2008 and may be pushed back to 2009. So unless part of your trip involves air travel, you won't need a passport.
Since you have plenty of time before your cruise, though, why not apply for one now? It's so much easier than carrying your birth certificate and that other stuff around.

No, As long as your cruise departs and returns to the US or a US territory you are not required to have a passport. Currently passports for sea travel are required beginning January 2008.

The best prices that I have found overall are from www.cruisequick.com.

HOWEVER they do not hold your hand. What I mean is that you need to know what cruise you want, what ship, date and category. You cannot call them, they do not answer a phone.

They are internet based only, completely legitimate, and offer a bonus or discount that most other agents don't offer.

They work on a flat fee profit and are completely automated.
They do answer emails promptly.

Their site explains how they work. I have used them for years, without any problems. They offer free price quotes via email that include all port fees, taxes etc.
Happy Cruising !

You don't need one yet, but will soon. You will have to have a certified birth certificate and a drivers license or a state approved ID. I love to cruise and am going on my 4th in October. Have a wonderful time!

not for this cruise you dont. have a certifed copy of your birth certificate and picture id. also dont forget your cruise tickets

Not at that time, but shortly after. I think it starts in 2009 at the very latest. They extended it for cruises although if you are flying out of the country (maybe to the embarkation port) you definitly will.

My advice is to apply for it and get it over with. If you go to a post office on a weekday it goes very quick and its done. They last for 10 years so you might as well just do it. I also found it much easier to have my passport on board the ship rather than my original birth certificate (which is required instead of the passport). Also if you are married or have had a name change you need the original proof of that too. not to mention ONE government issues photo ID (need this with or without passport) which would just be your drivers liscense.

My advice is to get the passport, it saves time getting on the ship and you will not need to worry about your birth certificate or marriage licsence etc.....
