I am an American and I worked on a cruise ship.
You will generally find US citizens working in one of the following departments:
Cruise Staff
Youth Staff
Sports Staff
Guest Relations
Shore Excursions
Production Cast
Production Team
It was for Royal Caribbean, but I know American's who work for Princess.
I'm not going to lie, it was tough...and expensive. There is a very tough medical...that for most people costs between $800-$1200 to have completed. |

Did Princess Cruises tell you that, or someone else? Unless their employment department told you, you have no way of knowing if that info is accurate. Ask the cruise line. See site below for their employment info. It certainly looks like they hire Americans since it mentions their corporate offices in 3 American cities and says they hire for jobs in all 3 cities as well as on-ship jobs. |

Princess seems to hire Americans for some of the entertainment and jobs like cruise directors, stuff like that. Princess has very few Americans because of our labor laws here. You see, Americans require breaks and lunch time and overtime after so many hours. On a cruise ship, you may work a 15 hour day and no days off for a month. They have different rules. If you go to Princess.com you will see a place of where to contact them and such. You can try if you wish. |

I have been on over 10 cruises and in my limited experiences, I have never seen an american working on a cruise ship unless they were part of the entertainment team. So if you are a dancer, skater, performer, or have interest in being a cruise director then perhaps you could be hired. |
