I want to go on a cruise?

I want to go on a cruise in December. I know that the trip is less expensive if you go at the beginning of the month but I also know that you can get the trip like really really cheap. How do you have to have a travel agent or book it last minute? I dont know but I dont want to spend over 400 and I want to go for at least 5 days. And it has to port close to New Orleans...any help?

Call Carnival. One of their PVP's (whom I always deal with) got me a seven day cruise in September for under $400. You are better off booking early. I always have a guaranteed price. If it goes down, then Carnival lowers my price to match it.

Check out www.vacationstogo.com

You can search by month and departure port.

Looks like there are some good deals on the Carnival Fantasy departing in December from New Orleans.

Remember...the prices quoted on most website do not include port fees and taxes. You should plan to add about $75-130 more for these fees.

Also, tips are $10 per day per person. Carnival adds the tips to you on-board account the moment you step on board. Other lines allow you to use tip envelopes and some folks skip out of giving the tips.

Be sure to check out the cost of parking at the New Orleans port if you are driving your car to the port.

You don't necessarily need a travel agent. There are a lot of online cruise discounters out there, check their sites or call, sometimes they have unadvertised discounted prices.

I went on a seven day cruise in April for a little over 500 a person. If I had waited to book, I would have given over 800 a person.

If I were you, I'd go to the Norwegian website(www.ncl.com), and look at cruises they offer in your time frame. I'm sure you can find a five or even seven day that around your price range.

If you look at prices based on the type of room you want, it's cheaper to get an inside room. I went with an inside room on my last cruise. It was the best sleep I have gotten in months. I also didn't spend a lot of time in the room. I really loved the activities that Norwegian planned, so I frequently attended them. My friend had a balcony room on the same cruise. It was nice, but not worth the extra money in my opinion.

Oh and I almost forgot...we sailed to Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico...Belize City, Belize...and Santo Tomas de Castilla, Guatemala. It was out of New Orleans and was 7 days in length.

Carnival has a cruise out of N.O. that's only five days. That's something to look into also.

A cruise is definitely the way to go. Nowhere else is going to provide all your entertainment and food for a cheaper price. Have fun looking and visiting the world!
