This is what I do. I pick the cruise I want (Make it affordable) then research all about it and put it to a presentation. Then, be really good without being suspicious. Then, when it's the right place at the right time( (usually after they had a glass of wine or two) present them with all the hard work you did, without being cheesy. 65% of the time it works, 25% of the time they say let us think about it, and let them think! 10% of the time, they just come out and say no. And if they do, just give (a little) sigh and take your presentation and go off. But if the say let us think about or no, still be good, they might say you deserve it! But still be good always. Don't worry, I've done this a thousand times, I LOVE cruises! So good luck!

P.S. also consider that if they say 'no' they might say it because they are concerned about you, with all the hijacks in the caribbean and especially the Swine Flu. So try also picking the safest itinerary on the cruise, this affects your parent's answer and your safety. Win- Win situation. :D

Say this " Mom, do you realize it is cheaper for us to go on a cruise for 7 days than it is to go to Disney for 7 days? And all the food is free, there are lots of things to do, and we, the kids, can do what we want to do and you and dad can do what you want to do? Plus, we get to go to different ports of call like Colon Panama, Lima Costa Rica and other places. AND we would be having fun. Remember the cruise we did before?"

Specify that a 7 day trip to disney for hotel, park passes, food, would cost about 4000$ for a family of 4. A 7 day cruise for 4 people would cost about half that.

One thing you could do is to do your part around the house. cleaning, laundry, cooking, etc. doing school work on time, good grades, say you will pay part of your way, then save part of your allowence to do it with. you could save half of your allowence each week/month, and pay for your part of the cruise in about 6 months depending on how much you get. ie... you get 30$ a week for allowence. save 15 of it each week. that is 45$ a month toward your cruise. after 6 months, you would have 270 of your part of the cruise. 3 and 4th person range from 299 - 400 pp. depending on the time of the cruise, and the length.

tell them it does not have to be Royal, but you could go on carnival for maybe even less than 2000$.

You don't have to do exchursions, just do something as a family like walking the port shops.

Maybe they just can't (or don't want to) afford it right now. And, there's a lot of additional expenses that you might not be aware of.

Cruises can be inexpensive up front if you get an inside stateroom, don't go on any excursions, and don't have any alcoholic beverages. But, then it starts to not be as much fun. Also, they add things like automatic tips for the room stewards ($10 per person per room each day).

And, if you don't live close enough to the cruise terminal to drive or take a cab/shuttle, flying can be expensive. Plus you might have to get a hotel room the night before. So, the costs can really add up.

Maybe you could ask them if they would agree to go on a cruise again if you could find one you could all go on within a certain budget. Then you could work up a trip and how much it costs. And, if you can come in under budget, you can go on another cruise.

I just think you'll be amazed at how much it actually costs when everything is factored in from the time you walk out your door until you get back home.

Give it some time they probably said no because money is really tight right now and probably can't afford to go on a cruise right now just tell them that you loved it and want to do it as soon as possible. They have to do a lot more then you think to go away on a cruise like their job they have get those days off.

OMG ITS THE SAME WITH ME !!!! i looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... it . but it was three years ago ! i miss it </3 . so i've been putting up pictures of the ship EVERY where in my house . now we MIGHT go on in summer 2010

Here is a great tip. Tell your parents that a cruise is actually a cheaper vacation then say going to a resort for a week and then paying for all your food too. This is very true. I would not kid you. The hard part is trying to convince your parents.
