There are plenty of cruise lines and cruises to choose from. The problem is that cruises are addictive and your first cruise is the one that stays in your memory as a comparison when you go again.
I like Princess, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. they all have good websites which makes searching for the perfect cruise very easy.
I look at the cruise line websites first and then trawl around the web trying to find a better deal. If I can't find a deal that appeals, I go to a TA and you can usually get some perks that will clinch the deal.

ummmm, well go to the caribbean!
i have been on three cruises, and the one that stood out to me was with NCL , norweigan cruise line. i probably spelt that wrong. but a lot of people really disliked it.
it is "freestyle" cruising. so you just do what you want, and it's not as casual.
on other cruise lines like the royal caribbean it is very dressy. and you have dinner at the same table, at the same time everynight. that is also fun because you get to know your waiting staff, and one night we were like doing the conga around the dining room.
it all depends on what you like!
why not find cheap last minute deals, thus saving money. that way you can try a few different cruise lines and see what you like best!
either way, cruises are awesome. and definitely addicting!

Royal Caribbean is a great cruise line. Their ships are nice and they have lots of activities. They have great Caribbean and Mexico itineraries. I prefer the southern and western caribbean itineraries. I've cruised with carnival also but their ships aren't as nice as royal caribbeans.

I have been on 30+ cruises and 8 different cruise lines. There are some very high end lines that offer a little more in the way of amenities and some that include wine with your meals. This is something that should be discussed with an agent so that there is an understanding of what you are looking for when you say great quality. For example, Oceania and Cunard are considered Luxury cruise lines, but they also tend to have more of a senior clientele. Royal Caribbean, as others have mentioned, is a very good line, and one that I consider a happy medium. Very good service, food, activities and cabin amenities. The amount of money you will spend depends as much on the type of cabin you want as on the cruise line. You can do an inside cabin on one of the luxury lines for the same as you can get a balcony cabin on a more middle class line. Hope this helps a little. I am a cruise specialist and would be glad to talk with you.

I've been on Royal Caribbean when I went to Bermuda....very nice. I think my next one is going to be Carnival, I've heard they are nice as well, and a little cheaper.

Been on 20+ cruises.
Check out vacationstogo.com. They have them all listed (easy for comparison) and all are at good discounted prices!

Just returned from a 9 days cruise which we got at 72% discount (booked 3 weeks before departure). We got a junior suite with balcony for $800!

If you want quality go for the smaller ships! We started with the big ones (Princess etc.) but now will only go on 50-200 person cruises!
You don't get the floor shows/casino etc of the big ships but you get a nicer class of person, much better "personal" service and don't feel like a sardine!
