I want to go on a world cruise. What is the best?

I real WORLD cruise. I've been checking site and talking to agents, but don't find what I want.
I want to go all over the world and have overnights, as many as possible. Or stay until late at night.
Money is no problem.
I'm retired, so the longer then better.

There are plenty of world cruises on offer, but to be honest, none of them meet your criteria, the longest stay in port is around 12 hours from 8am to 8pm, only a couple of overnights.
Understandable I suppose, if you're off the ship, you're not spending money on the ship.
Here's a link to all the available luxury world cruises on one website
http://www.cruisingluxury.com/index.htm.
If you have unlimited time and money, have you thought about doing it on a cargo ship.

It might be more like what you are looking for.

Also try Holland America. They have several 1 that leaves New York and is 50 days cruise that travels to many ports in Europe its is called 50-day Grand Mediterranean & Black Sea. They also offer 35 day cruises as well.
Princess.com offers a 120 day world cruise.
Both excellent lines.

Check out vacationstogo.com. On the left side is a column of special interest cruising and world cruising is one you can click on. It's called grand voyages.

You're in luck - there are quite a lot of world cruises these days, so you have some good options.

The key thing is, you need to book these at least a year in advance of departure, if not more, especially if you are particular about what type of cabin/suite you want.

They're all about the same length, 100+ days, but I think Holland America has the longest option at 134 days

The leader in the space is definitely Holland America Line - they've had world cruises for over fifty years and do an exceptional job. Great lecturers, overnights, etc.
http://www.hollandamerica.com/cruise-destinations/Destination.action?explore=true&regionCode=WW&destCode=W

The following have done a world cruise in the past year or so, but may not do one every year:

Regent - Relatively high-end, well regarded. http://www.rssc.com/voyage/search.do?region=WORLD-CRUISES

Crystal - Offer extensive overland options. http://www.crystalcruises.com/cruiselist.aspx?RK=WC2009

Cunard - Luxury ships. Very formal. The most expensive of the bunch. http://www.cunard.com/Destinations/default.asp?Sub=&Region=13

I'd encourage you to contact a travel agent who specializes in high-end vacations, though. Look for membership in the "Virtuoso" network. Cruise Specialists is highly regarded: http://www.cruisespecialists.com (I haven't used them myself, but know people who have.)

There is a ship called "The World". It is a ship that you buy into for 1 year at a time. It does go all over the world in pure luxury. Everything is first class. They do stay in certain ports longer and manage to be in the right ports at the right time such as in France during the tour de France. Now this is the most expensive cruise around, but you do get what you pay for. Check with your travel agent on this one.
