I would like to go on a cruise in Alaska. Do you know anything about it?

What is the best cruise line. What do you like about it and how much does it cost?

Carnival is my favorite
Keep in mind some start and stop in different port and most ship are not US ships so by law they have to stop at 1 non-US port so keep track of the ever changing passport law

Carnival Spirit starting at $549
Anchorage (Whittier), AK (Starting Port)
Cruise College Fjord ; Cruise Prince William Sound ; Sitka, AK ; Juneau, AK ; Skagway, AK ; Cruise Lynn Canal ; Ketchikan, AK ; Cruise Inside Passage
Vancouver, BC, Canada (Ending Port)

to get on that starts and stops at the same port is more but you can save in plane far.

Carnival Spirit starting at $909
Vancouver, BC, Canada (starts and stops)
Cruise Inside Passage ; Juneau, AK ; Cruise Glacier Bay ; Skagway, AK ; Ketchikan, AK ; Cruise Inside Passage ; Vancouver, BC, Canada

I went to Alaska for a week on Holland America's Amsterdam. It was a beautiful ship. Have you ever cruised before? The Amsterdam carries about 1800 people. I now prefer the smaller luxury liners, i.e., Seabourn. But the Amsterdam was lovely and Alaska was bigger than life! It's very beautiful there (we were lucky and had good weather). I don't think you can go wrong taking a cruise to Alaska. It just depends on what kind of atmosphere you like, there are so many ships to choose from.

Royal Caribbean owns a company called Royal Celebrity that operates in Alaska, and they are spectacular. Personally, I think they are better than Princess. The buses and train cars are much newer and nicer, and the fleet of ships they use is all new. There typically aren't as many people per bus, train car, or ship as the Princess tours, so you get more space and more of a personal experience. Royal Celebrity doesn't own its own hotels in Alaska, but they put travelers up in first class hotels, including Princess hotels in some places.

Most awesome experience ever. I would highly recommend it, and despite the reputation for a being a "older person's cruise Line" Holland American does a wonderful job.

If you like meeting new people, seeing nature at its finest then Alaska is a excellent choice. Very simple choice for you. If you have the time then a cruisetour is best. You see so much more. Princess offers the best lodging go to Princess.com and check out 9N for $1399.00 each it is worth every penny.
If you can only go for a 7 day cruise then Norwegian or Princess. They both offer more relaxed dress code and excellent buffet. Price is $799.00. Take an inside cabin to keep cost down as you are not in your room that much.
Enjoy. LOts more info at their sites. If a member of AAA they can save you money a book everything for you.

Yes I do. I must of came to the right place because I love Alaska cruises. The one I went on was a Princess which I highly recommend by the way they are great. I dont have enough time to tell you everything but my favorite part has to be going through Tracys arm. It is a day at sea and yes it is cold but you see iceberg after iceberg. They are positively B-E-A-utiful!! Taking an Alaskan cruise is a good choice. I dont remember what the cost is but there is an itinerary on www.princesscruises.com and it tells dates prices and everything. Im sure Carnival and other lines have that too. Enjoy your vacation!! : )

The scenery is mind blowing and unlike anything you'll find in any other state. I came back with 1000 pictures! Personally I highly recommend at least an ocean view stateroom and a balcony if you can afford it. We had a mini-suite on the NCL Star and paid about $1400 each. We spent so much time out on the balcony looking at everything going by and especially enjoyed it in Glacier Bay when it got too cold up on deck.

As far as the best cruise line, everyone has a different opinion. I like NCL because of the freestyle dining. Like others who have been there I could go on and on. For more info than you could ever want on cruising go to the site below. You can read about Alaska and about various cruise lines.

Hi, I went on an Alaskan cruise in the summer of 2005 on the Carnival Spirit. We started in Vancouver, Canada (which looked like a lovely city - wish we could have explored it more), and stopped in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Sitka. I really liked Skagway. It's like walking into an old Western movie. The ship sailed into Glacier Bay, where we saw glaciers calving. This means we saw huge chunks of ice falling into the bay, making a thunderous noise. We ended up in Whittier, where we took a bus to Anchorage to fly back home. To be honest with you, I cannot remember how much it cost, but if you go to www.carnival.com, they'll have more information.
