If i tip a porter at the shop to take my bags, will mu luggage be at my cabin sooner than check in?

Show all answers

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only
NO, the tipping will not make any difference because the porters who take your bags to the ship's gangway to be put on the ship are not the same people who distribute the bags on ship. The porters at the port work for the port and the ship's staff, cabin stewards and others, bring the luggage to your cabin.

However, you should still tip the porter a small amount per bag; like maybe $1.00 to $2.00 per.

Veronica Alicia
We've always found our luggage gets to our cabin before us, without tipping anybody. That's on P & O from Southampton.
The only time there is a problem is when labels become detached from suitcases, then they are all left in a specified area for passengers to claim.

gcgofer
no, he puts it on the same rack you would be putting it on

MomSezNo
It won't help speed things up, but rumor has it it could delay things if you don't tip the porter. Sometimes they put the "strong arm" on you and hint that your bags could get "lost" if you don't tip the porter. Just do it.
