Personally , I would go for the front of the ship, lower rather than a higher deck.
At the front of the ship you will get the vibration and noise from the bow thrusters when the ship is docking or leaving port but otherwise nothing to worry about, its a natural alarm clock, you don't miss anything.
At the rear of the ship, you will get the vibration and noise from the propellers all the time while the ship is moving.
The size of cruise ships today and the use of stabilisers means less movement wherever you have a cabin, just make sure there are no public areas above the cabin you chose.
Enjoy your cruise.

As a person who suffers from motion sickness, i STRONGLY recommend the back of the ship over the front of the ship so long as you are not the very end cabin or directly over the engines. I have often cruised 3 or 4 cabins from the back of the ship without a problem. I disagree with the previous poster who said the front is not so bad. I am only able to venture to the front 25% of the ship when waters are pretty calm other than for short periods of time. Try to pick a middle deck near the back if you can.

I would go with the back. Keep in mind that these ships are very large and have stabalizers. If you take your bonnie starting the day before you cruise, you should be ok regardless of what cabin you end up with.

I have a tendency for motion sickness and we had a cabin at the back of the ship (literally 2 cabins from the end). I was surprised at how little it bothered me. You couldn't really feel the ship move at all. The only time we noticed it was when the ship started up all the motors and such (don't know the technical term, sorry), but that was just a quick gentle rumble, not a rocking motion.

Yet on the ship when we were at the front of the ship I could feel it. It was very strange.

So I recommend the back of the ship. Hope this helps.

You should sit on the middle deck where you can get lots of fresh air. Stare at the horizon, and absolutely you shouldn't see the big waves.

we have been all the way front, and all the way back. It really does not matter.

Make sure you get some OTC motion sickness pills, and take every 4 hours and for 2 days before you get on board to get it built up in your system.

Honestly though, you will not need them unless the weather gets really bad, or you do a tender from the ship to a port.

I take a whole prescription with me, and seldom take over 4 pills the whole trip unless we do hit bad weather.

The only time you may feel some rocking is when you are trying to go to sleep, then it is relaxing.

If you are seriously prone to motion sickness it is always better to be lower in the ship and toward the middle.

To be 100% honest there isn't going to be such a significant difference between all the way aft or all the way forward...you are going to feel movement either way.

If you have a serious concern I would choose a different date with more availability to make sure you can get the room you want. Plus if you go into it thinking you are going to get sick, you will. Other than that check with your doctor to see if you can be given a prescription for motion sickness medication.

Bonine is a good otc medication and I've heard good things about "sea bands" (acupressure bands)

good luck

i would pick a deck lower in the ship and in the middle if your concern is seasickness.

have a good day
