If you were going to go on a theme cruise...what would it be?

I am a travel agent and I would like to create a specialty cruise. This is a cruise with a theme. What would you like the theme of the cruise to be? Would you spend money to go on that cruise?

A trekky cruise. There are thousands of fans who go to Star Trek Conventions each year in the US.

I've been on a Trek cruise & Buffy the Vampire Slayer cruise and they were very successful. I've also seen where they did a Ren Fest cruise and a Greg Evegan cruise (who knew BJ and the Bear had such a solid fan base?!?!).

I think your best bet if you want to pursue something like this is to find something that has a really strong loyal fan base and target marketing directly at them. Whether it's a TV show or whether it is a hobby - pick something that you know already has a very strong hard core group surrounding it. People that are borderline obsessive. It could be anything from Fantasy Football (hobby) to Harry Potter (film) - as long as people are obsessed enough by it, they'll pay for the experience. If you do go with something TV or Film oriented your initial start up costs will be higher because you'll need to include some "guests". Sometimes you can get away with just paying for their transportation and cruise - but usually you'll have to pay them a fee also.

Good luck, it sounds like fun! I hope you are successful with it.

costume. That would be awesome. I love dressing up and I would pay 500 dollars a night for that cruise. Plus the expense of food. And thats a 7 day cruise.
