It depends, usually if it is norovirus, you are only contagious the first 48-72 hours, which it sounds like you've surpassed at this point.
If you are exhibiting symptoms upon embarkation the ship doctor may want to visit with you just to make sure everything is okay.
The person who said use the hand gel is partially correct. I used to work on a ship, and a guest brought the question up during one of the Captain's Corner sessions, why we didn't have the hand gel out like other cruise ships they've been on, and here is the Captain's response (paraphrased) Here is the problem with the hand gel. It's not that effective for norovirus, and it lulls people into a false sense of security. The most effective method is washing with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds after using the restroom and before eating.
With the gel, people don't do this, and they think, oh, I will just use the gel when I get to the dining room or wherever. But, on the way to the dining room people touch the stair rails, the elevator buttons and whatever else.

Well, you have 4 more days to get well. If what you have is a cold or the flu, try Alkaseltzer plus cold medicine. That stuff help me a lot. Anyways, if you can look OK, then they will let you on, so fix yourself up, put on a smile and you will be fine. |

You have to realise that a lot of the sickness problems on cruise ships are caused by poorly people coming on the ship and spreading their bugs around!
If you do go make sure you use the hand wash gel continuously they will have throughout the ship to try and stop infecting other people!
