Make your own certificate with their names, the name of the ship, the dates, and departure city. Print a copy of the itinerary from the cruise line's web site. Roll them together and tie a pretty ribbon around it. Nice gift! To go a wee bit further, go to a toy store and pick up a plastic model of a cruise ship, and when you get it home, take some hobby paint and a small brush (also from the toy store) and paint the name of the ship on the one side. Paint their first names on the other side, and the year on the back. Tie the certificate and itinerary to the top of the ship with a big ribbon. One final step -- a chilled bottle of champagne or sparkling wine to share and "christen" the cruise.

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only
The cruise lines do not actually issue you a ticket for your cruise the way the airlines or Amtrak may issue you a paper ticket. When you book a cruise they require that you complete personal information about each passenger (required by the Dept of Homeland Security) and request that you go online and print a boarding pass for each person that goes by various names, depending on the cruise line, called "set sail pass" (on Royal Caribbean) or "fun pass" On Carnival). Here's what's on Carnival site:
" As a Carnival guest, you have the convenience of expediting your check-in process by registering for your cruise in advance, while also satisfying Department of Homeland Security requirements. Once you have completed the information and printed a FunPass, simply go through a document verification check after you arrive at the cruise terminal. It's that easy! "

Here's what Holland America says:

" We strongly encourage you to expedite your check-in by completing the Online Check-In at least 30 days prior to departure. New U.S. government security regulations require us to submit certain guest information to law enforcement authorities at least 60 minutes prior to departure. To meet this requirement, we must have the necessary information in our records at least 90 minutes before departure. If we do not have your information by this deadline, you will be unable to sail. Guests are urged to complete the Online Check-in process before leaving home. Guests who wait to check in at the terminal risk being unable to sail even if they arrive at the terminal before the vessel leaves. You will be responsible for all costs you incur to join the vessel at the next port. "

Then a few weeks before the cruise they send you luggage tags and information about tours and how to get to the ship. Then when its time to cruise you bring your own ticket.

So my point is telling you all of this is that you should and could create your own cruise certificate (or ticket) to present to them. You could dress it up with their photos and a scene or two from Alaska and/or a cruise ship (maybe the own you will book them on).

Some years ago we gave our parents a trip to Hawaii for their 50th wedding anniversary. Since we did not know when was a good time for them to go; did not buy airline tickets or reserve hotel in advance, we gave them a certificate that was good for the trip whenever they were ready to go. We had a dinner party for their anniversary with all of us kids and grand kids and other family member present and gave them the certificate which was good for an all expenses paid trip. They elected to go about 3 months later and gave us enough lead time to make all of the reservations. Then the certificate was something else they could keep as a keepsake.

OH MY GOD! ITS KRISTY

I would get a huge box and place the tickets in a small envelope or small box and fill the box with tons of stuffing and let them dig for it! a lot of laughs and excitement!

What the other person said is a good idea. Or tape it to there foreheads a week or two before the cruise lol. That would be funny. Get them a book and stick it in the book and whoa it falls out. haha. but just make sure they see it lol. Or punch a hole through the tickets tie a long peice of ribbon to it and stick it on top there ceiling fan. When they pull the string cruise tickets come down.
