Im thinking of quiting working for a cruise line. How hard will it be to get rehired? |
I have worked 2 contracts and just want a long breather from the industry. I don't want to ruin any chance of working for the ship again. Just looking for opinions. |

Your best option would be to sign off contract complete. If you can't do that, then give them as much advance notice as possible to get a replacement onboard.
As long as you've had good reviews while employed on ship, and haven't done anything really stupid. You should have no problem getting rehired.
You may have to apply again, and you might have to get your medical re-done. I think if you're inactive for more than six months, then you are no longer a re-hire, but a new applicant. But, of course, you will have cruise ship experience, so that will help.
But, I know people, like you, who needed an extended break. And they just let the company know, and took a year off or whatever, and then came back. So, it happens quite often. |

If you give them at least 2 weeks or whatever they consider sufficient notice, you should be ok. |

I work for Royal Caribbean for 2 years and the best way is to tell them that you have a family emergency...just quiting will not be a good move. |
