Imperial Majesty Cruise Line-->I've been scammed? |
Okay, so today my mom opens up a letter from the company called:
Imperial Majesty Cruise Line Vacations
Now yes, I know now that giving my credit card number over the phone to some dude named Darian Boyd was incredibly irresponsible, and that the charges of like $700 is going to be paid for nothing.
I looked up online on Google right after I got off the phone with the company and a repulsive representative named 'Pedro', and know that the whole thing is a scam.
People who have actually gotten their sales package have gone and said that the trip is not worth it, and the the ship is even bad for your health because of the poor conditions. Also that they make your pay of absolutely everything, and that the travel voucher is false advertising.
Now the question is, that I know some people have actually gotten their full refund through some serious complaining or whatever.
All I want to know is how do I cancel this whole thing? Must I call my Credit card company or what?

You have a 30 day period to get your money back. (a cooling off period).
The trouble is that you have to actually get someone to talk too at their office, although it is your right to cancel, from what I have read, it is incredibly difficult, they keep hanging up on you.
Your best bet is to cancel thetransaction through your Credit card Company.

First call the credit card company and dispute the charges explaining it just as you have done here. They can reverse the charge if they believe it is fraud. Also attempt to contact the travel company and get them to cancel, (you changed your mind,etc) That will orbably prove to be fruitless. Then contact the Attorney Generals office in your state and tell them you would like to file a consumer fraud complaint. The will tell you how to do it online or forward you the appropriate documentation. How much they help you will depend upon what state you live in. In Maine they "love" to go after this type of consumer complaint (mostly for the publicity, but in the end why would you care why they do it) Good luck your fighting an uphill battle. |

The genuine Imperial Majesty Cruise Line owns an elderly but highly regarded ship called Regal Empress, which is currently on loan to help with hurricane relief operations in Galveston. There is a link to a review of the ship from web site below. There are also rumours that they may be planning to replace her soon.
So you may not have been scammed, IF it was actually this company that you spoke to. |
