yes you can, usually what happens is that most cabins have two twin beds and if you're married they tend to have both beds pushed together as one, and you'd never know the difference. however if you were to ever go to your stateroom and there were 2 beds, all you have to do is let your cabin stewart know and they will gladly convert the two beds into one. (that is on carnival cruise line anyway) |

some room have the bunk. most rooms have two beds or if you are traveling with your spouse or significant other, they will push the two together. you're never able to tell because it looks like a big queen size bed. |

some rooms on some ships have bunk beds, some have 2 single, some of 1 double bed.
Nowadays and the newer ships have 2 beds, which can be either be put as one, or 2 separate ones. You will say when you book, what kind of arrangement you are looking for. |

Cabins are sold on the basis of 2 people. You can pay extra for just single occupancy.
You can't get a single cabin at 1/2 the price of a double occupancy cabin. |

All rooms have at least 2 beds. Some have 2 more that fold down. A suite may have a full size or larger bed. Most cruise lines will charge a single passenger about 150-160% of the double rate to go as a single. For more expensive rooms and suites the price will be 200%.
Some older ships still have single cabins with a single bed that has its own rate. You will not find them on the new larger ships.
