You can find an inexpensive cruise online if you just take the time to look, and know where to look. I always suggest looking on the cruise line web sites rather than cruise wholesalers and travel agent sites. The cruise lines' web sites have all of the information you will want or need and you can reserve and make payments directly to them online. That's how I have booked my last few cruises.
Some people will tell you to go on Carnival because it is the lowest priced cruise line. I say don't go for a basic cruise line when you can get and have a much better cruise by paying just a little more. The cruise lines that I recommend are Royal Caribbean, Princess, Celebrity and Norwegian, pretty much in that order. I have been on many cruises on these lines and know first hand that you will have great accommodations, food services and a great time.
Many cruise lines offer the same cruise and sometimes a cruise line will have a different price for each time that cruise departs. So the first thing you should do when shopping and planning is be very flexible on your dates. You will get a good deal if you go when the "deal" is available, which may not necessarily be on your anniversary date. Second, book early. Forget all of what you heard about waiting until the last minute to get one of the cabins that has not been sold. there may not be any last minute bargains and what do you do if your dates come and there's no cruise space available.
So shop around. Here's an example of how the same cruise can be a different price on different dates:
http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/cruiseDetails/itineraryAndPricing.do;jsessionid=0000KGKlSWrORFiqWoACL0LSy_W:10ktmf1jr?packageCode=FR07E005&date=ANY&selectedCurrencyCode=&promoType=
Scroll down the page. Look at the prices for Sept 07 and then look at how much lower they are for Sept 08.

Note the different prices for the same cruise and how some dates are called "Hot ", meaning the prices are the cheapest on those dates.
You may also want to look at some of the other Yahoo Answer's questions and answers in the cruise travel section to see what other information may be helpful to you.
Another way to save money on your cruise is to find one leaving from a port near where you live and drive there. This is quite possible on the east coast where cruises leave from Boston; NY; Norfolk; Charleston, SC; Jacksonville, Fl; Cape Kennedy; Ft Lauderdale, Tampa; and Miami. if you can drive to one of these cities you will save airfare to the port city. Other departure ports in the US are Galveston, Tx; New Orleans; San Diego, Long Beach and Seattle Wash. All of these ports have safe parking; I have driven to the ports many times. |

Carnival is one of the least expensive lines (probably the least expensive, actually), and Royal Caribbean is slightly more than Carnival, but still on the less expensive side. Try looking at dates around late August-November(ish). This is hurricane season, so the prices are lower.
You can get travel insurance so that if something happens weather-wise, you're covered. Also, cruise ships are different when it comes to hurricanes because they can alter their course to avoid it. |

Carnival has 3 and 4 day cruises to the Bahamas departing from Port Canaveral, Florida. The ship is the Carnival Sensation. Depending on the time of year, I've paid as little as $199 per person for this cruise. If you or your husband are or were in the military, it is even cheaper. This is a fun little cruise and I go a couple of times per year just to unwind. The 3 day cruise goes to Nassau, and the 4 day goes to Freeport and Nassau. |

Check out Carnival. We have sailed with them twice and they have gotten us a better deal than any other website. They have personal vacation planners as well that can help you find one in your price range.
The cheapest time of year to go is October and Early December
Also- You will get a better deal if you book early!
Good Luck and Have Fun!!!!!!! |

Sometimes when you book last min. cruiselines want to fill vacant spots so they offer really good discount, so try the actual websites of cruiselines of itineries that you're interested with a sailing date of 2 weeks or so. OTherwise, you can try sites like vacationstogo.com, they offer some great last min fares, as well as carnival, since they offer cheaper cruisefares with mostly younger crowd. |
